I think it’s time for a complete wipe of the democratic party..
Barely any of the reps who hold positions of power now actually care about the working class American citizen.
if democrats were rallying a national campaign of opposition, giving speeches at protests, organizing media blitzes, dedicating party resources to ground work. actually serving the function of a opposition party, to make it very uncomfortable for republicans. then maybe not signing up for what would largely be a symbolic impeachment would be forgivable.
but they are doing nothing else.
a political party exists to fight for the fucking people. not to sit back and write civil letters and quietly enable the trump regime.
They didn’t need help, though. Why is it always the democrats‘ fault when even if all 128 voted to impeach it still wouldn’t have passed? How many republicans voted for impeachment? None, zero, zilch. But let’s demonize the democrats. Its articles like this perpetuating the „both sides bad“ narrative that got us where we are now.
I dont like the strikes anymore than the next person, but every president since Clinton has launched strikes against „enemies of the US“. Not saying those were right or okay, but this was never going to succeed.
Why are there so many people here that can’t understand eating up time is a benefit when the bad guys are doing bad things with that time. Also fighting for correct causes is the entire point.

As much as it pains me to say it. Iran strikes were legal. Plus for impeachment items there are insanely better items to go after Dump on. Wasting impeachment on Iran was a stupid move.
First- this doesn’t deserve impeachment. Historically, presidents have struck other countries without congressional approval and the Korean War even started that way.
And second- don’t we know from all the other times that impeachment doesn’t do anything anyway? Waste of time for grandstanding for the base.

Obama launched strikes to topple Ghadafi (however you spell his name) in Libya and no one was calling for his impeachment. On top of we already know GOP in Congress has shown they will never hold Trump accountable.
All this would accomplish is giving people more of a reason to bitch that “the left” is trying to steal the Dear Leader out of his office.

As much as I want him gone, this is the right call. Obama and Biden both launched attacks without Congressional approval. This would just be another waste of money, and would fuel the Right that much more headed into the primary.

Any impeachment effort is dead until after midterms. And they all know it. The chatter about it is just political posturing.
Because it’s diluting impeachment. The President ordering an airstrike has a lot of precedence, including against Iran. Impeach over all the money he is making by using the Presidency to enrich himself, that’s an actual crime.

This was a stupid reason for impeachment. Presidents have been launching limited military action without congressional approval for decades.
The impeachment would fail in the senate anyway, at least make it over something meaningful.

It’s not the right time. He should be impeached (and convicted) over a lot of things, including this, but I fail to see what doing so *right* *now* would accomplish since Republicans hold majorities in both chambers. Even if all dems were on board, it’s still doomed to fail.
If those idiots in the GOP wouldn’t convict him over J6, they won’t convict him of anything.

I don’t think he should be impeached for this. POTUS is commander in chief and after 9/11 the executive branch was given much greater power to use military action in foreign nations. While this strike definitely pushed the envelop regarding that power, it does not violate the presidents authority. Now I think congress should scale back the AUMF so this doesn’t happen again.
Impeach him for bribery. Impeach him for violating citizens first amendment rights. Impeach him for gross economic incompetence.
While I am no fan of the TACO in chief, it’s difficult to blame a congressperson who doesn’t want to impeach a President for unilateral strikes. Obama authorized strikes in Libya and also green lit the raid to kill Bin Laden without approval, Biden did it in Yemen and Syria, Clinton in Kosovo, and Trump back in 2017 in Syria.
If Trump gets impeached for this while the rest didn’t it makes it look like it’s just politics. To stop this kind of thing they need to adjust the 1973 War Powers Resolution to include strikes along with „boots on the ground“ type deployments.

If it passes the house and dies in the senate, it’s gone for good. With it being tabled, if Dems take the house and senate in midterms it can be brought back up and get pushed through.

I would like for us to properly consider how to support our regional allies to that end.
However, unilaterally circumventing congress to directly involve us in a war is absolutely deserving of impeachment. It is a massive breach of protocol and a dangerous precedent.
