Eine geringere Geburtenrate pro Frau wird zu einer alternden Bevölkerung und zu einem erhöhten Druck auf die Arbeitskräfte in der Zukunft führen (derzeit in Japan, Südkorea und Europa). Und in Kombination mit dem Verhältnis von Frauen zu Männern wird es noch düsterer.

genuine question: why do we think this is a problem? (i am speaking globally, not just for azerbaijan)
with AI and technology on the rise, we don’t need human power as we used to. we can observe the rise of unemployment already. AND humans are destroying the earth, even our population right now is not sustainable.

if we have 999 women per 1000 man in the working age(16-65?) i think its fine, almost 1-1 ratio
male infants have usually way higher mortality rates, which is compensated by higher chance for a child to be born male
but the 1.67 birth rate is a really big problem, our country has oil, it can subsidize many things to give us higher birth rate, meanwhile countries that globally have birth rate problems dont have the oil
gulf arabic countries already do subsidize most costs of child care and their birth rate(for native arabs, migrants are not subsidized) is very high

I agree with you, this is the main problem. I heard many times the words „men oglan ushagi isteyirem“ ; now I start wondering if there is really huge discrimination towards girls

I think the real problem is job creation. Many azeris dont want to live in azerbaijan anymore because there are no jobs for them.

I’m not aware of the situation in AZ, but to me the population seems much more homogeneous and I wonder how the low birth rate will be dealt with.
Current TFR, as of 2024 and per official data, is 1.43.
The decrease in the number of births in the first 2 months of 2025 is -6%, if this continues for the whole year this should yield a TFR around 1.35-1.37 for 2025.

Demographic crisis? It will be a demographic crisis when people DO have children in this country. Everything in this country is broken and the majority thinks that our 2 biggest problems are lack of wikipediots and foreigners not thinking that dolma should belong to Azerbaijan.

Unless these men marry foreigners to make up the difference and bring their wives to the Caucasus, this will heavily impact the demographics below replacement level in both nations in coming years as well. I did not even mention emigration levels, a lot of Azerbaijanis are studying or working abroad for better opportunities which will also impact demographics.
