Corporate owned democrats are destroying the party. Democrats who would have been republican 20 years ago are stagnant and have no new ideas to combat Trump’s authoritarian rule.

Not just young voters but progressives in general. I am absolutely disgusted with the current democratic party so much so i now consider myself a independent. And its not because they are woke or too far left or trans people. Its because the party’s absolute refusal to embrace a economic left message and agenda.
KimmyT1436 on
It really is quite simple. Most people who aren’t MAGA cultists are anxious and angry over rise of Trump and his fascist regime. The Democratic base, and young people especially, want Democrats in congress and government to stand up and fight back against Trump in a meaningful way. And that’s not happening.
Instead, the Democratic Party leadership seems to care more about protecting their money, power, and status than actually fighting for the rights of their constituents and seem hell bent on suppressing the voices of progressives who do fight back like AOC and Mamdani. Young people look at this and think to themselves „Why should I vote for a party that clearly won’t fight for me and my rights?“. So, they stay home and don’t vote, or worse, fall under Trump’s spell and vote Republican.
Democratic leadership needs to wake up to the fact that there is an easy way to win back the votes of young people. And, that is to start listening to progressive voices instead of trying to suppress them and to grow a spine and start fighting for democracy and the rights of their constituents in a real, meaningful way. Only then, will young people look at the Democratic Party and view it as an actual alternative to Trump’s fascism.

So much in-fighting. I’m sick of it. The whole attitude that if “my guy” doesn’t win then I throw a tantrum and let literal Hitler goose step into power needs to FUCKING END.
The reason nobody cares about young people issues is because they don’t vote, and if they do it’s for one person only and ONLY someone who doesn’t appeal to older voters. It is a losing proposition of no compromise and it is infantile.
Young people want change? Then vote EVERY TIME. Vote for whoever is closest aligned to your interests EVERY TIME. if young people were a reliable voting block you’d see more politicians appealing to them. That’s how it works. That’s why old people are always getting priority because they vote EVERY TIME.

Centrist democrats are destroying the party because the center keeps moving right…so those young, active democrats have no faith in party leadership because they don’t speak to them anyway.

The truth is, You will never get non-dinosaurs without going left. This is the time where the old-gaurd think the party is low approval because of woke/left agenda. When it has everything to do with Dinosaurs hording leadership positions and having NO-MESSAGE. Only the left has a message everyone else in democratic party just does nothing and get re-elected.
David Hogg was trying to change that. And save the party. But it doesn’t want to be saved.

I just don’t get how you can vote an establishment, disgraced, controversy-ridden candidate when you have a truly progressive, working class candidate like Mamdani. This is as someone who does not live in New York, but has watched this race closely.
The fact that establishment dems fall in line behind Cuomo with endorsements, while they point fingers at Trump for being a sexual abuser is MIND BOGGLING. It just makes it ever apparent that big money is the most important thing to both major parties. How can you possibly convince people that you are the party of the working class like this?

If there’s one thing that MAGA is right about, it’s that the modern Democratic Party is pretty much just a collection of grifters, geriatric stock traders, and ineffectual centrists.
They’re at best oblivious to the seriousness of the moment, and at worst working against the interests of their own party while profiting off the betrayal.
NOTHING WILL CHANGE unless we remove these people from office. We will continue to be subjugated by authoritarian strongmen while people wearing the mantle of progressive politics betray us.

If you’re a Pelosi-type and you want to keep the party center, the BEST thing to do is to have a successor! MENTOR! We can have the leftist vs centrist debate all we want, but the winning side will be the one who is putting „youth“ (people under 50) in power. It’s insane that she and others think they’ll live forever.

I think one of the things that the Democrats haven’t figured out about this generation of young people is that they actually value the kind of genuine human connection that millennials and gen-Xers have always felt cynical about. And it’s not just a slight preference, it’s really important to them, it’s more important than being right.

What is one thing, one fucking thing, anything, that they have done to make the lives of the average citizen better? My kid is growing up with active shooting drills, I’m working overtime to afford groceries, and rent is fucking sky high. Where these graduates gonna live? How these kids gonna eat on bullshit minimum wage? That they have any young supporters at all just shows that the only thing they’re good at is bullshitting people with propaganda while cutting their futures out from under them.
