      I’m genuinely so happy Cuomo’s attempted comeback has been blocked by a progressive democratic socialist. Good riddance, Democrats need new, exciting leadership, and certainly not someone who’s been accused of sexual harassment by at least 11 women.

      imo the NYC mayoral election is a zoomed in cross section of american politics as a whole. this is a great sign of what the people want. and the people want cuomo to shut up

      Why are so many people already feigning worry about Mamdani’s chances in the general election?

      It feels like a loud, vocal minority of Redditors wanted him to lose so they could continue talking about how the Democrats are fucking up by letting Cuomo win the primary.

      Mamdani winning is a good thing.

      I guess this was an upset by CNN or Fox’s logic but it sure felt like this campaign was actually reaching out to real humans and getting support of the people and was gonna win

      Hopefully this shows people are finally waking up to whats good for them. Heres a short list of things Zohran hopes to do for our city:

      1. **Rent Freeze and Housing Justice** – Mamdani’s commitment to a citywide rent freeze and stronger tenant protections appealed to renters burdened by rising housing costs.

      2. **Public Transit for All** – He championed fare-free buses and improved MTA funding through taxing the ultra-wealthy, a major draw for working-class and outer-borough voters.

      3. **Universal Childcare** – His pledge to create a publicly funded, citywide childcare system addressed a top concern for families struggling with affordability.

      4. **City-Owned Grocery Stores** – He promoted opening publicly owned supermarkets in food deserts to combat high prices and corporate monopolies, making him stand out on food security.

      5. **Green New Deal for NYC** – Mamdani supported bold climate policies, including public renewable energy investments and a jobs guarantee in green infrastructure.

      Ken Martin, a Farmer-Labor Party candidate is now the chair of the DNC, against the wishes of Pelosi and Schumer. Zohran Mamandi, a socialist, just won the primary for the largest city in the US. This comes at a time when the abundance agenda is fresh on everyones minds. 

      The Democratic party died in 2024. Now it’s being reborn into what is needs to be.

      I’m interested to see how he implements his defund the police policy. If he does it correctly, it could be a model for the states/cities that want to move toward de-escalation and peaceful conflict resolution rather than militarization for their police forces.

      I’m nervous it’s early to celebrate. I feel like Cuomo conceded so nicely, as to keep his image for his F&D party run in the general. I hope I’m wrong, but there are a lot of ways to split votes in the general that this sleeze still nabs the W.

      This is good. But all the takes about how this would generalize to the presidential election are overblown. But I would like to see someone run who doesn’t hold back and speaks truth to power.

      Let this also be a victory for ranked choice voting. Even though he wins the primary without the need for first choice candidates to be dropped. But not only will we see how much his lead will grow with him clearly going to pick up more secondary votes than Cuomo. But also voters for the first time were truly emboldened to vote for the most progressive option not fearing their least favorite option would win if their preferred candidate lost. All in all this is a good day and a win for what American politics and elections could and should look like.
