It sounds like it’s time to remove Davies as interim leader, because he continues to fail to do anything to calm the slow moving train wreck around the NDP. Will they even have a caucus left by the time there’s a leadership race?
It’s kind of ridiculous that they have a caucus of only 7 members, and they somehow can’t get along. The article paints a picture of a party that is just not serious and does not want to win. The main concern expressed here is a lack of consultations, despite the fact that that is all the party seems to do. Just an overwhelming mentality of „we need to do nothing, and do it as slow as possible“.
In addition, they’re whining about the entry fee, despite the fact that the NDP is in massive debt, and if the new leader can’t even scrounge up the pittance they’re putting it at(75k), they won’t be able to fundraiser enough to keep the party afloat.
It just seems every „concern“ raised in the article is a push to double down on the failed direction that got the NDP in the hole they are in right now. Focus on HR nonsense about „equity seeking groups“ and they’ll lose the few seats they have left.
This party does nothing except posture towards those voices while not maintaining any actual line drawn or doing anything to develop the party.
The NDP is so lost.
Deeply disappointing that they’re getting so lost in the process they’ll be lucky to have a single policy in their platform, let alone a leader before the next election.
I knew before opening the article that Leah Gazan would be at the center of it. She seems primarily concerned with getting attention for herself than the future of her party.
