      >The prospect a Mamdani victory is deeply worrying to many of the Wall Street bankers, corporate executives, real estate developers, mega-landlords and others who are bankrolling Cuomo

      >Backers include billionaire former Mayor Michael Bloomberg; financiers Bill Ackman and Dan Loeb; Wall Street titans Blair Effron, Steve Rattner, and Antonio Weiss; Palantir founder and co-CEO Alex Karp; and former President Bill Clinton.

      >Other tax-dodging billionaires have vowed to leave the city altogether if Mamdani gets elected.

Great, maybe he can change New York so it’s not a safe haven for the most corrupt members of our society.

    3. Seems highly unlikely given the polling, which is super depressing. Even then, it’s the mayor of new york. Not like the guy would have a lot of power to do much to hold the oligarchs accountable.

    4. neolib pacs behind cuomo have promised to redirect their money to getting the republican nomination to win.

corporate centrists literally would burn this country down rather than see it become more livable and less brutal for the working class.

    5. If he won, billionaires would still have AMAZING lives with all their wealth.

It truly takes a sociopath to have everything, and then burn the whole world down just to have a little more.

I assume it’s all hands on deck with GOTV, right? Like, nonstop, right?

Oligarchs being terrified is just the best thing anyone can hope for.

    8. literallytwisted on

Really? The oligarchs should be terrified of the eventual blowback once enough people get fed up with them and our current fascist government.

At the rate the current crop of fascists is speed running to failure If I were a billionaire I would already have quietly disappeared from the spotlight and been ready to hide in my bunker.

You don’t have to sell him to me any harder. I already told New Yorkers they should pick him.

      Oh no, anyway.

Jokes aside. At this point if the oligarchs don’t like something or someone I think it’s safe to say it’s a good thing.

These parasites fight tooth and nail to stop anything and anyone that would reduce their wealth by .0001%.

Imagine a world without them, oh how nice it would be.

Why? What is he really going to do? I’m cynical but I’m tired of the new person is going to make the rich finally pay. He’s the mayor if NYC. Not the king of the world.

    12. Meanwhile I’m tiredly worried that Cuomo will be the canary in the coal mine proving that Democratic politics remain too corrupt to take on Trump and Trumpism and will instead attempt excuse again.

They’re more than welcome to go to they’re private island or bunker at any time.

This reads like a headline from The Iron Heel by London, 1905. His predictions of the Great War’s industrial surpluses and the Reichstag Fire inspired Orwell’s more famous conception, on along with the progressed situation we find ourselves in…

    15. 1% or 3,3 Million of Americans own 50.000 billion Dollars.

If they „pay“ the national debt, they EACH would be „worth“ 424 Million.

The wiped out debt would free about 1000 billion dollars each year – or about 2 Quarter of ALL Hospital Revenues in the US

You can cut Medical costs in Half.. by taxing the rich.

      What the fuck.

    16. The simple fact that Cuomo is on the ballot. Yep. We’re doing great in America.

Then they ask why young people won’t vote or won’t vote Democrat when they promote 70 year old criminals as candidates and go all out against anyone progressive

    18. Individualist13th on

You’d think they’d be more afraid of like inevitable mob violence.

It’s crazy how terrified they are of him. The muslim fearmongering can be heard all the way on the west coast for a fucking mayoral race.

    20. He’s literally the only candidate worth listening to. And the fact that he scares the rich is an amazing endorsement.

Whatever happened in Rockaway county with the voting machines could happen tonight.

    22. Michael Bloomberg in particular is the saddest, most pathetic billionaire bitch boy. He’d rather set $100M on fire for a hopeless vanity presidential bid then even sniff the prospect of paying into a more progressive tax system. And he got what he wanted. He bought his way onto the stage, absorbed body blows from Elizabeth Warren that should have been directed at Joe Biden, and joined the How Are You Going Pay For It Choir (taxing you, asshole) against Bernie.

Now he wants to do the same thing in the mayor race. Such a feckless pig. No such thing as a good billionaire, especially not Michael fucking Bloomberg.

    23. Good! They better be. I’m tired of corporatist democrats voting with republicans.
