Replace “Hollywood” with “America” and it still works.

WB was in bad shape and Zaslov has made it in worse shape. Somehow he still got a raise, just not as big of one.

There should be a cap in all business where a CEO can not make more that 5x his lowest paid employee’s salary.

I used to love going to the movies. I was there waiting when the local theater opened up after COVID. I am simply unwilling to pay what it costs to see a movie in the theater now. When it’s $25+ to see a movie, it’s a luxury. I’ll stay home and wait for it to hit streaming. Hollywood is broken. Theaters are broken.

That’s actually how I know Hollywood wood is in bad shape because of how CEOs are paid.

It’s interesting. The decline of Hollywood is really mirroring what happened with craft beer. A bunch of suits making the same decisions they have for decades and failing to understand what’s happening with the current market. That plus the Dunning – Kruger syndrome that’s epidemic among consumers…

??? Has the shape of Hollywood ever been judged based on CEO pay??? What kind of barometer is that??
Piss_Pirate44 on
I sound so snobby saying this but, Hollywood used to be run by artists and people who cared about the craft of movie making. Now it’s basically the same as any other product in the market like beer or shoes. It’s not about what they create it’s about how much they make.

Don’t need to read the article to know CEO pay is almost certainly part of, if not the problem.

I guess they figure they should take what they can get while there’s still money to be had.

I find it insane that anybody is paid more than 500.000 a year. That’s ten times more than what other people earn, and that’s calculated generously.
No one works 10 times harder or longer than other full-time workers.

Why does Hollywood CEO’s matter in this context when real people doing real work for ‘minimum wage’ don’t?
