Does traction mean desperately trying to get the ad to shut up because you paused it to listen to something else?

“We forced ads on users while paused and they didn’t have any way past it”
I’m predicting a resurgence in Firefox users.

Ohh youtube why would you think this would be smart. The only reason someone probably pauses the ad (since they don’t use an ad block) is they probably need to hear something, take a phone call or someone is talking to them. This would only drive more away from you’re platform or bring more over to us using ad blocks.

I mean if it’s something like a banner ad that’s just a still image I think it sounds pretty fine

This is a new kind of evil. I use Brave as my browser and I’ve never seen an ad on YouTube.
If they kept the total length of ads to less than 5% of the length of the video, I’d stop blocking ads.

This will kill the reaction channels who pause and analyse every single frame of a video lol.

I don’t care, honestly. If it’s paused that means I’m most likely not even at my computer so sure go ahead and play an ad that isn’t going to get seen. Now, if the ad makes it so you can’t immediately *unpause* whenever you get back until it’s over or blasts audio, that’s a different story

Meh… there will always be a workaround for it, as long as YouTube lazily does it using client-side script for the sake of “user experience” crap.
Honestly, if they wanna run ads when I pause and walk away to take a shit, or pause to do work, *and I can fucking mute it AND I can resume my video without the whole ad playing* why wouldn’t I want this?

You’re right, I should just close the tab instead.

Yeah man, strong traction. Ignore the sky-high download numbers for ublock origin. You’re doing great, sweetie.

As someone who pauses a lot watching instructional videos this is only gonna make me invest more effort in my ad block

Personally I really like ads. The more the better.
They repel me and help me stay off screen

I hope SCOTUS extends the “Text, history, and tradition” from NYSRPA vs Bruen to the first amendment. It would make it way harder for the government to argue that infringing on the first amendment is ok
