The Los Angeles Dodgers announced on Friday a $1 million commitment to support immigrant families affected by recent federal immigration raids in Southern California.

„What’s happening in Los Angeles has reverberated among thousands upon thousands of people, and we have heard the calls for us to take a leading role on behalf of those affected. We believe that by committing resources and taking action, we will continue to support and uplift the communities of Greater Los Angeles,“ Stan Kasten, president and CEO of the Dodgers, said in a statement emailed to Newsweek on Saturday afternoon.

    2. So let me get this straight

First the Dodgers inform a singer she’s not allowed to sing the national anthem in Spanish.

Now they are donating money to families affected by ice

    3. Is it just me, or does that seem like a small amount of money from an organization like the Dodgers? Not trying to downplay it, by the way. It’s an objectively good thing to do and I’m glad they’re doing it.

    4. The headline says the “Dodgers defy Trump with $1 million for families hit by ICE raids”. How is this donation an act of defiance?

It isn’t illegal to make the donation.

Trump never said “don’t make the donation.”

Let’s be honest here, the headline should read “The Dodgers make a donation to help with public relations and avoid public backlash.”

      Peanuts. So little, so late.

Now Othani will only get $699,000,000 over the next 10 years

Not a dodger fan but im so glad they did that. More sports teams should follow and companies as well. It would be wonderful if corporations turned around donated their tax cuts to the families

Dodgers visit White House and Trump
Dodgers are against a singer singing Spanish
Dodgers donate to victims of ice?

Yeah, I hated the dodgers before this shit. Now I hate them even more. Go fuck yourselves for trying to “save face”

    8. Very_Nice_Zombie on

The same Dodgers who went to the white house and kissed Mango’s ass literally a week after he removed the Jackie Robinson stuff from the White hosue site and had the naval site refer to jackie as DEI hire?

      That Dodgers?

      Fuck them.

Recent evidence LA Dodgers aren’t reading the room:

      1.Visit the Trump House

      2. Antagonize a singer for a spanish version of the anthem.

      3. Give a 1 $Mil(loool) to families affected by ICE.

Besides the Math not Mathin (Camron!), the LA Dodgers are living up to their name.

I’m thinking they are doing it because somehow it affects their bottom line in finances. Isn’t that that all people in sports care about; winning, fame and making top dollar?

Interesting thing about Dodgers stadium. It was built on land that was owned by Mexican families. They were forced out because to builder dodgers stadium.

Defy trump?! Who tf writes these bs headlines…

They were mum in all of it until they got exposed in letting ICE use their parking lot as a meet point/intake point.

      Fuck the Dodgers.

      “An LA native”

    13. lol dodgers fans ain’t buying this stunt. The day they went to visit the white house they lost all credibility

    14. MasChingonNoHay on

The owner probably gave 50 million to Trump behind closed doors. He’s a multi billionaire and Trump is doing everything for people just like him

    15. Thats nothing. This is more like they paid 1 million for PR in the wake of their deafening silence around the ICE raids.

    16. It’s about fucking time that organization grew a fucking spine. It only took the protests in LA to do it. I wonder if Newsom made a phone call and gave them ultimatums. Fucking cowards.
