This is a false equivalence. The two album covers have nothing in common, and the kind of message they convey is completely different.
The backlash has nothing to do with Sabrina being scantily clad or in a suggestive pose. It has to do with the man standing over her, pulling her hair. People don’t hate the cover because they are pearl clutching prudes; they hate it because it trivializes violence against women.
This is a calculated move – It gives Carly Simon exposure to newer audiences while giving some „prestige“ to Carpenter , regardless of any actual truth to the statement.

This is a ridiculous comparison design to make us- probably me specifically- reply with outrage…. “OUTRAGE!”
Not even remotely similar.
I don’t really care about Sabrina Carpenter but Jesus Christ, it’s not bad at all. Let artists be artists.
