For YEARS I never bothered with this one, figuring it was just not my type of movie.
Then I finally watched it.
It’s a genuinely amazing film and Ledger gives one of the best performances in anything ever.
It’s a fantastic film.
I’ll never understand why they named it that.
Everyone knows brokeback mountain but it feels like so few know the genius behind it, Annie Proulx. I think she is the greatest living prose writer. Everyone should read “Barkskins” or “The Shipping News.” Or if you’re not typically a reader, her short story collection “Close Range: Wyoming Stories” which contains the short story… Brokeback Mountain
I remember going to see it with my girlfriend at the time. We spontaneously decided to go to the cinema while on holiday because it started to rain.
We hadn’t heard anything about the movie beforehand and just picked it because Heath and Jake were in it. I was thinking it was a just a cowboy movie so I was stunned when Jake and Heath start having sex with each other lol.
I thoroughly enjoyed it though.
