I don’t know state vs federal laws but I would assume he’s pushing a legal boundary here as usual. Act, then let the courts try to stop him. My assumption is he’s basically going to try this in blue states first.
Without justification, he can’t just unleash troops where nothing is happening. Peaceful protests might be bent. But the courts would have a hard time allowing the deployment of troops in peaceful times let alone state governments allowing this without a fight.
Autocracy in your country will get worse, way worse before democracy resumes. But it will resume. America is a great country. Good will shine through the clouds once again. It always does. If you look at the terrible things humans did to one another over the years in the western world, it never lasted. Dictatorships have no foundation. Freedom and kindness, looking after each other does.

So far, the courts have been fairly successful in curbing a lot of Trump’s authoritarian impulses. The military might have to follow suit. Both enlisted personnel and officers take an oath upon entering the military. All members of the military have the right, and in some cases have the duty, to refuse illegal orders. Their oath is to the *Constitution* not to the Commander-In-Chief or to any other individual in the chain of command. While military members are expected to follow lawful orders, they are not required to obey orders that are illegal or violate the Constitution.
He wants to leave this country in ashes when he is done.
At the rate he’s going I am starting to wonder if he realizes there’s a finite number of miliary and NG troops he can deploy to places.
I mean he’s wanting them in full action all along both our borders, he wants to deploy them to every protest and city, he’s looking at getting us caught up in a war in the Middle East with no clear objective (AGAIN), oh and hey Greenland and Panama and maybe Canada too.
I bet you it’s not going to be two more months before the „need to re-implement the Draft“ comes into the conversation and we all know how well that did last time but something being an obviously terrible idea has never slowed him down before.

I’d say welcome to Nazi America except that’s a misnomer. The Nazis while morally bankrupt were in some ways capable. These morons aren’t even that. I can’t even say welcome to idiocracy because those morons actually valued intelligence.
Canadian here lightly weighing in. I’ve lived long enough to appreciate what my neighbours to the south have given me. From art, music, literature, science, laughs, cultures, history, to name a few. And people. People worth watching and listening to and learning from. I can think of a few answers but what I think is irrelevant.

He is sending troops now not on a large scale but their are troops in the streets they are called ICE and incase you haven’t been paying attention personnel from other agencies have been transferred to ICE and there are national guard and marines on the ground in California. This is just a test run to see how much he can get away with and the maga court is allowing the troops so expect more troops in other states as soon as the dis functioning maga Nazis can organize it.
He’s looking for a reason and if he can’t find one. He’ll create a scenario where he can.

I love how it expressly says one thing, yet the judges say „meh, close enough, we can ignore the PLAIN FUCKING TEXT.“ Here’s the plain text:
„Orders for these purposes shall be issued through the governors of the States or, in the case of the District of Columbia, through the commanding general of the National Guard“
What makes it even worse is the absolute farce all of this was set forth with in that there was a rebellion and the federal laws couldn’t be carried out. Despite nobody on the ground declaring such, even the LAPD chief saying the opposite in the the Guard wasn’t needed. So we have yet another bullshit, precedent setting ruling determined by a farcical false premise. And of course is totally devoid of reality given the circumstances of what Trump was trying to do.
The plan: declare everything an emergency to widen the executive and let the SC who has already ruled that he’s basically immune from prosecution, sort it out.
