      >Donald Trump threatened to send the National Guard to other American cities after a major legal win in California’s case against him.

      >A three-judge federal appeals court panel sided Thursday night with Trump over California Governor Gavin Newsom, who challenged the president’s decision to call in the National Guard after sweeping immigration raids in Los Angeles sparked protests.

      >The court was considering U.S. District Judge Stephen Breyer’s temporary restraining order, which would have forced Trump to remove the troops while litigation continues. But the panel ultimately unanimously decided to give deference to Trump, who has the power to federalize the National Guard when “the President is unable with the regular forces to execute the laws of the United States.”

German SS. We tried to warn voters. Turns out they either wanted this… Or just didn’t fucking care.

He’s just going to send troops into our cities whenever there is any kind of dissent, and he’ll do it with the courts‘ approval. This is disheartening.

      So the court said:

      >when “the President is unable with the regular forces to execute the laws of the United States.”

I didn’t exactly see Trump exhaust the usage of regular forces here.

People forget that the first country the Nazi’s invaded was Germany

This is where you have groups plan large protests and then not show up. When governors of red states start preemptively activating guard troops to do something about it, it will waste their money and time and if they don’t pay the guard it won’t go over well for their continued support. Plan to have massive protests in Conservative areas but don’t show up so they get to have troops in their communities.

Our country has been overtaken by fascism, and we all saw it coming. January 6th wasn’t enough to get people to vote, and Trump took notes. Now he will continue his mission of pushing limits until the entire system breaks. We won’t survive 3 and a half more years at this rate.

Honest question: in all these stories, I’ve never seen who’s paying for this. I know it’s ultimately taxpayers, but is the Federal government responsible for paying wages, expenses, for these troops or each state?

We need to orginize a march to Washington and remove this person. It needs to happen. The National Guard needs to refuse the orders. This is ridiculous!

Ultimately it’s both silly and futile that these folks think that the culture wars can be won by troop deployments.

Dictators don’t need judges. I’m amazed that the judiciary thinks they will somehow be spared if Trump gets his end goal.

Seems like the ideal time to preach about the second amendment ….

Dictators gonna dictator…I’m most disappointed in our pathetic judicial branch, where Trump-appointed judges cannot apply even the most basic degrees of common sense. In the Trump court system, words NO LONGER MATTER (eg „resurrection“) and our fascist leader can apply whatever definition he wants to whatever word he chooses. I’m embarrassed at how quickly Trump-appointed judges have prostrated themselves on the altar of MAGA fascism. We deserve the fucked-up country we’re becoming

I said it in an earlier thread on the decision and I’ll say it again here.

The Judges who sided with Trump here need to be tried for treason by way of giving aid & comfort to an enemy of the United States.

      The Legal system
Is in the bag for Trump at the highest levels. Fuck us.

This is consolidating power. He’ll take away the 2nd amendment once he can enforce taking the guns away.

    17. This guy.

So he can claim any fracas is an insurrection, federalize the state NG, ignore the state governor, make everything worse. Trample peoples rights and due process.

And judges are fine with that.

      Do it, Donald.

I hate feeling like accelerationism is the only answer left, but at this point, I don’t think we’re going to see the regime stop sending the army, marines, and national guard against people it doesn’t like until either order breaks down in the military entirely, or they provoke the civil war Stephen Miller fantasizes about.

And the faster they try to go, the faster morale will break down – especially since Donald doesn’t ever pay, and none of the guard are getting paid for this crap.

    19. jertheman43 on

We, the people, will be the only ones to stop this. We will have to find our courage and face down a tyrant and his National Guard.

    20. Sure. Put the entire fucking military in Los Angeles. Great use of resources. Idiot.

    21. Then we need bigger civilian protests.

I hope the no kings protest keeps going. Not a one day event.
