I mean, can we call it a „dystopian ad“ if the footage is simply sourced from what is actually happening?

    2. Wrong_Confection1090 on

This isn’t even, „They’re making shit up“ angry.

This is „We know but we don’t like thinking about it“ angry. Jesus Christ.

    3. Searchlights on

      Dramatized, it’s exactly what’s happening.

It has become normal and acceptable for masked unidentified men to abduct people. That’s happening every day and it’s totally acceptable.

      Literally.

A pack of dudes jump out of several pickup trucks masked like they’re robbing a gas station and you better know where your birth certificate is or you’re going in the Salvadorian memory hole. And we never bring anyone back because fuck you that’s why.

You better not go check the mailbox without all of your ID in America.

„Democrat posts dystopian ad showing non-white citizens being kidnapped by Republicans in ‘Trump’s America’

„A Democrat lawmaker posted a disturbing ad depicting a non-white citizen being kidnapped by Republicans, captioned, “Trump’s America.”

„California Rep. Eric Swalwell https://www.independent.co.uk/topic/eric-swalwell posted the ad, made by Progress Action Fund, to X on Wednesday (18 June). The video shows a white man and a non-white woman talking outside before the woman is suddenly grabbed by masked men meant to resemble ICE agents.“

The man demands answers, and is confronted by a lawmaker who says, “I’m your Republican Congressman. Now that we’re in charge, we’re rounding up illegals.”

When the man angrily responds that the woman was born in the US, the lawmaker replies, “I don’t care, she looks like one of them.”

„The Republican then promises that the woman will have “lots of company” in the El Salvador prison she’s going to.“

„The ad closes with a purported quote of Donald Trump’s from an April 14 visit with El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele: “The homegrowns are next.”https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/trump-home-growns-bukele-citizens-b2733207.html

I’m waiting for an ICE agent to get captured by another ICE agent and deported. You it’s going to happen if it hasn’t already just kept super quite.

I have to express it way, dystopian? Dystopian is the descriptive of the Trump regime.

    7. literallytwisted on

The only difference between the Ad and current reality is the uniforms, The current ICE agents don’t seem to have actual uniforms and instead dress like a hillbilly militia with mismatched gear and fake labeling like „police“.

The ad is by Progress Action Fund not the DNC. They make effective and targeted ads that move the needle.

Attention is king. Trump knows and uses that all the time which is why we are here.

“For 2024, our ads went viral, racking up over 500 million views across the swing states. Our five viral ads, including “Republicans Killing Your Wife,” helped turn out Democrats in critical races, and received widespread praise, from Eric Swalwell to (brace yourself) even Steve Bannon. Our ads were featured everywhere, including on MSNBC, Fox News, NewsNation, The New York Post, The Daily Beast, and The Daily Mail, with testing showing our ads were over three times more effective than the average political ad.

In 2025/2026, our new ads will continue to star “Your Republican Congressman” as he invades the everyday lives of real Americans. The 30-second ads will be seen on streaming services and social media to educate voters, infiltrate the GOP media ecosystem, stop Trump’s agenda, and win back Congress. Content will focus on the issues that concern Americans, especially young men who swung towards Trump by 30 points last cycle. We have already started targeting these young men with our latest viral ad, “Republicans Blowing Your Taxes,” which was viewed over 10 million times and broke through the noise by being featured outlets like TMZ.”

Is it really an ad or a documentary? Nothing to advertise, 70 million Americans deliberately bought their ticket to this freak show.

    10. > The ad closes with a purported quote of Donald Trump’s from an April 14 visit with El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele: “The homegrowns are next.”

Uh, no. Not purported. We literally heard him say it on mic.

    11. Survive1014 on

But IS IT dystopian? Its literally happening.

Watched a ICE raid in my hometown last week!!!

      Wake up!!

    12. pma_everyday on

Someone else said it, but “Dystopia is when you take things that happened to marginalized people and apply them to people with privilege.”

    13. Los Angeleno here. They are taking citizens every day. This is awful. Pure evil.

    14. GardenRafters on

It’s weird that I never, ever see any of these commercials on actual TV. They’re powerful but they aren’t reaching the masses like they need to.

As a refugee – whose family came to the United States seeking freedom from persecution – I am beyond heartbroken. :’(

Since Trump returned to power, the *flashbacks* and fear have also returned to my mind. It’s like they’re bounty hunters for the government – the *Fugitive Slave Act 2.0* or something.

I’ve been told by colleagues not to worry as I am more ‘European’ and of fairer complexion, and I will be left alone – as if that helps to alleviate the pain and guilt. The worry for my family, friends, and other immigrants has been overwhelming. *sigh*

    16. sandyandybb on

I mean this is a solid strategy. I would take it a step further and just play Fox News footage

    17. MyMuselsAMeanDrunk on

Do it more. Do it everywhere. Do it relentlessly. The Democrats need to take control of the narrative away from right wing nutjobs and Nazi sympathizers.

    18. BaconISgoodSOGOOD on

Why even hire actors? Just go out and film the actual raids themselves. Can’t be that much different. Make a compilation.
