Cheers is my favorite show of all time
And IMO, by far, the Diane years are way better than the Rebecca years
(and within the Diane years, the Coach years 1-3 are the best seasons of tv ever)
Without Diane, there is no Cheers
Cheers? That just ended a few years ago. Can’t we call someone from The Beverly Hillbillies and ask if they got along with each other.
She was great, but at the same time she was overexposed. Her character was getting tired because she probably had the most lines in the show, and there was not much left to explore.
Seems like Ted Danson was a giant ass to many many people and trying to apologize late in life. Lame!
A tale as old as time. She received a lot of criticism at the time she was on that show. He did not.

I thought she was an awful choice, but she grew on me to the point I couldn’t see anyone else in that role. She was perfect.
She was fine for the short time that she was on the show, but I was really growing tired of her near the end and I was glad that she left. The Sam and Diane arc was fine, but it really had nowhere else to go.
I like Rhea Perlman but I get the sense that there was some bullying of Shelley on the set, and Rhea was a bit of a pick me with the bros and ostracized her. That’s just a sense I always get. But Shelley was known to be genuinely difficult as well.
Ironically she thought this about the character of Frasier. I preferred Diane to Rebecca, but enjoyed the entire series. Shelley Long has gotten dumped on unfairly over the years.
