I would say that number makes sense pre-election because the Conservative party was obviously feeding their base an incredibly steady diet of „Canada fucking sucks now“, but this poll was after the election.
Is there any argument at all for that slide outside of pure partisan politics?
Does it come as a surprise to anyone that conservatives hate their country? They’ve been voting to destroy it for over a decade now. Ever since the capital C Conservatives became a thing under Harper.

Conservatives hate Canada, and the electorate.
I mean it’s not entirely their fault, having someone who’s squatting in an official residence despite being out of a job tell them constantly that Canada is broken and he’s the only one with the magic wand that can fix it is likely to manipulate a few people into believing the bullshit.
If you don’t feel proud to be one, well either move to USA or somewhere else. Gave job opportunities for more Canadian, and we can also have more doctors, nurse to come here also.
Team sports often lead people to focus more on the teams rather than the sport itself. My father loved hockey. But rather than be filled with glee and excitement during playoffs he was typically a morbid mess because his team didn’t win past ’93.
No doubt a lot of CPC voters are upset their team lost and are not considering the bigger picture. But given that the CPC ran with the campaign of ‚everything is broken and only we can fix it‘ I suspect many of their voters will continue to think Canada is still broken until they find a leader who does more than cultivate anger and fear online.
Let me guess it’s the conservatives? As a now former conservative the party is basically just the reform party 2.0. which already was pretty pro American.
With the party already becoming increasingly Americanised a large part of the base now exists just to be contrarian and oppose anything the left, the establishment and the media says even if means being unpatriotic or welcoming annexation.
Post this on r/Canadianconservative and watch them try the rationalize why being opposed to Canada and patriotism is good or understandable.
It would be nice if our major opposition party was competent, and embracing it’s worst elements.
Nothing like a good opinion piece masking the results of a survey to try and paint conservatives as unpatriotic because they disagree with the ideology of the current government.
Am I the only one that noticed that patriotic feelings among Liberal and NDP voters increased substantially (7-9%) compared to last year while conservatives only declined by 3%? Why weren’t they as patriotic when Trudeau was in power? Seems like those groups are more liable to be swayed by their party winning or perhaps a certain Orange Man in that Republic to the south.
Notably, the Bloc voters went from 30 to 42%, a 12% increase, and they’re basically a socialist party. 2.2% margin of error as well….
