I once read that [Doug Ford](https://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/toronto/globe-investigation-the-ford-familys-history-with-drug-dealing/article12153014/) himself used to sell hash to others during his high-school years.
Why shouldn’t innocent people be allowed out on bail, provided there are sufficient conditions in place and minimal risk to the community?
Where are you going to put them Doug? Jails are overflowing. Who’s responsible for the jail’s situation again Doug?
I guess he dislikes people being being arrested for their crimes?
Have the drug dealers offered to buy the OPP a helicopter as tribute? What do they expect?
Mr Ford seems to completely misconstrue the point of pre-trial custody. Punishing people for acts they have not been found guilty of is not it.
Then again, of course he’s pushing his shit idea to nominate partisan conservative justices.
I really can’t wrap my head around some of the logic of the LPC base. There is broad support for keeping criminals out of jail until sentencing, even those who obviously have the means to flee the country (500kg of cocaine implies deep pockets) in the name of personal rights and freedoms and at the expense of public safety. Yet there is no problem confiscating law abiding gun owners property and violating their rights because of „public safety“.
