„Two fugitives wanted for murder and child rape in Brazil have successfully used Britain’s human rights laws to avoid extradition.
Marlon Martins Dos Santos and Nicolas Gomes De Brito have both successfully fought extradition to Brazil after claiming it would breach their rights under Article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), which protects against torture and inhuman treatment.
Dos Santos was sentenced to 14 years in jail in Brazil for repeatedly raping a five year-old girl but by then he had already fled to the UK. A British judge refused Brazil’s extradition request on the basis that it would violate his Article 3 rights. In April he was convicted of possessing and distributing more than 1,000 images of child abuse, including the most serious category.“

I would prefer that we don’t come out of / repeal anything to do with ECHR. These are just steps, much like the US, designed to lurch to the right. Fascism isn’t a good look.
A balanced approach would be for them to serve their sentences over here (and Brazil pay for it)
The British media are going to use these extreme instances of minorities committing crimes to convince a racist populace they should leave the ECHR and reduce their own legal protections.
The elites don’t care about your safety, or that of your kids. Or at least not as much as they care about Britain’s international ‘obligations’ and how we’re perceived abroad. The bureaucracy only cares about blindly following the bureaucratic rules.

It’s surprising that the Conservative government of the day didn’t apparently try to seek any assurances from the Brazilian authorities in order to satisfy the Court’s concerns about torture or inhumane treatment.
Why are we just allowing our country to become a haven for the world’s scum?
There are bound to be cases where the system gets misused like any system. We don’t remove accessible parking just because a few people use them without blue badges. Where are the articles about the many entirely deserved people the ECHR has saved from torture and abuse?
This is why we need tougher laws on immigration.
It’s not about skin colour etc. it’s about knowing who exactly is in the country and the circumstances.

The courts have too much power. I’m sure no politician agrees with this so we need to remove some of their powers.
I’m sure we are part of the ECHR for many reasons, but with this specific case, we should not be saving a paedophile from the consequences of his actions.

Assuming (and I’m willing to be schooled here) that Westminster Magistrates is not the final legal stop, who needs to make what representations to which legal body to get this pair of cunts on a plane to Brazil, their actual home country?
My concern is that repeated occurrences like this, with their concomitant publicity, risk sending the message that if you live in a place with a less-than-Nordic prison system, and you get convicted of something for which your soon-to-be fellow convicts have little empathy, you can just piss off to the UK, and you’ll be peachy.
tl;dr: what’s stopping a higher court just turning their visas off?
