Doubt it will pass but yeah, I get it.

This is a law that seems crazy it needs to be brought in. Yet it absolutely does! Since when have we had law enforcement wearing masks to conceal their identities??

There’s legit reason to wear fave covering, but none to prevent identification.
A prominent name and badge/number seems reasonable.
Im.surpirsed there hasn’t been more LE legit hurt or killed over some ofnthis plain stupid shot theyre doing in plain clothes or unmarked military uniforms…similar to whay cartel footsoldiers wear
I think the point of this law, though I could be wrong, is not just to require ICE to behave with some civility (that would be nice wouldn’t it), but to make it a bit harder for masked thieves from impersonating ICE and mugging you or robbing your house. Seems obvious to me – we shouldn’t have law enforcement hidden unless it’s undercover work.

There’s no solution to what this is trying to solve or not solve.
One end it’s good because people kill cops intentionally to KILL a person trying to protect.
On the other, it allows bad actors to act with impunity in theory.
Almost as if that’s not the core problem. It’s the desire to hurt people and feel entitled to immense wealth and pleasure.
Ironic coming from people that tried to force face coverings on everyone. I don’t know how you’re going to tell officers who are working with pepper spray, tear gas, or making a fentanyl bust that they can’t cover their faces, but I’ll wait for the explanation.
This is an extremely tough needle to thread. You can’t deny law enforcement from protecting their face. You can’t prove that they aren’t calling it protecting the face when really the just wanna cover their face.
Could this apply to federal agents when they’re inside California?
I’m glad to hear it, but I have to ask, how likely is it that the legislation can actually be enforced?

These guys are all plenty well armed to protect themselves – there’s a whole massive infrastructure to protect them, we need to know who they are so we can protect ourselves.
Next make it a requirement that they state their identity when asked, and that if they’re in civilian garb they lose all legal protections police usually receive.
I look forward to them trying to argue that masks/face coverings are necessary to protect their health from criminals throwing fentanyl in their face like a ninja throwing a smoke bomb to escape a scene.

Banning masks is a bad play. The better play is to have everyone wear masks so ICE wouldn’t know who to arrest.
