I don’t understand how Russia sees what Israel is doing and thinks sending troops to take Ukraine is the way to go.
Do they not have ICBMs that can dark the sky?

Crazy to watch these and think the person in the video KNOWS they’re going to die. Like this dude knew his life was over, and he was about to be blown apart unmercifully yet still decided to throw the finger. I would be frozen in terror.

I have to say that I’m a total noob when it comes to the 🇷🇺🇺🇦🪖, I find it very odd that 🇷🇺 sends soldiers one by one like this to the battlefield with no backup whether in equipment or fighters. It’s literally a meat grinder for these soldiers.

Was wondering, why do we always see posts where Russian soldiers getting getting sniped by Ukrainian drones but not the other way around? Is it because Ukraine publicizes such footage on the internet and Russia doesn’t? Just curious
willybillz on
Russian men must see this stuff before deploying to Ukraine, no? So how can they possibly be dumb, desperate, or insane enough to sign up? Of course many Ukrainians suffer equally horrific deaths—but they’ve been invaded, and their only other option is to flee their country, their families, and their lives. It just boggles my mind that anyone would accept cash in exchange for getting shipped abroad to a front where this is now a fairly typical end to a Russian’s military career.
Maybe I’m too many years from the invincibility of my youth, but even at 18, I imagine that hundreds, maybe thousands of videos like this, coupled with some back-of-the-envelope math about casualty figures, would have made me do almost anything to avoid this fate. Sure, I read books about horrible deaths in war, but I understood basic probabilities, and unlimited access to free videos like this would prevent me from attacking a non-threatening neighbor nation. Not to mention that the average age of Russian soldiers is close to 40 now. There is no way in hell I would have done it at any age, or in any state of intoxication, for all the money in the world—let alone a $20k signing bonus and $25k annually.
And what’s any salary worth when the life expectancy of Russian soldiers at the front is thought to average around 2 weeks? Sure, estimates vary from days to a couple months, but even if it were a year, or 50:50 odds of survival, it should be the same calculus. Who would play Russian roulette once a week for $2,000 a month? And the life expectancy of a Russian soldier on a „meat assault“ is 4 hours—given that’s the mean and that some do survive, at least a third probably die in the first handful of minutes. It’s hard to imagine that the dumbest, craziest lifer in the worst Russian prison would take those odds, even after a complementary liter of vodka.
I get that propaganda is powerful, that people are dumb, and that math is hard—but it’s not like most Russians are illiterate or can’t access the internet. All that said, I know a fair amount of extremely intelligent, Westernized Russians, and none of them seem especially surprised. The answer, they tell me, isn’t education, economics, or statistical illiteracy—it’s the culture, and especially its values, or lack thereof. The Soviet Union destroyed an empire and, worse, destroyed the soul of its people.
