Hallo zusammen, kann mir bitte jemand erklären, wie die Energierechnung in Deutschland funktioniert? Ich habe mich kürzlich bei Mainova angemeldet und sehe diesen riesigen Betrag als nächste Zahlung. Ich wohne in einem 75qm großen Haus. M. WG mit einer weiteren Person. Was mache ich falsch?

It’s not directly a bill about the electricity you already used, but an *Abschlag*, in this case meaning that you regularly pay a certain amount upfront and with the next „real“ bill will either get money back if you used less electricity or pay something on top if you used more.

Two people in a 75 m² apartment should put you roughly at ~900 € a year, so the estimate seems to be plausible.
I’d assume you can change the amount of the Abschlag by clicking on „Ändern“.
