Depending on how the polls are looking at that time, I could easily see this going in a very different direction than most are expecting it to.
The way i see it, Pierre is great for opposing a government but not for making that leap to government.
Huh. I had heard he was pushing for an earlier review to try and nip it in the bud.
I wonder if his theory is wait until he gets back into Parliament in the fall and re-establishes himself, shows some strength, and saves his arse.
But it does give the opportunity for someone else to consider stepping up and building a profile over the next 6 months. Though there’s no contenders yet and he seems to still have a lock on the base.
That by-election will be really interesting to watch.
No surprises there. I suspect Poilievre will survive comfortably for a bunch of reasons. He’s offering what the base wants a „strong“ populist neoconservative. His fundraising has been very strong. Even though choked hard he still finished with a very high vote percentage and got the CPC a good result. Finally he’s been filling the party with loyalist MPs.
Perhaps most crucially internal opposition is weak and disunited. Red Tories of both varieties are dwindling in number as many have been retiring or failed to be reelected. Old guard blue Tories also seemed to be pretty opposed to Poilievre MPs like Ed Fast for example and they’re are starting to die off too as they retire. And then there are social conservatives who don’t like Poilievre but aren’t willing to work with the others to oust Poilievre.
So there’s probably no rush to have a leadership review.

My brain has been cooking on the Alberta seat for a while, initially I chalked it up as a lack of confidence by the CPC that poilievre could even hold his safe seats in Ontario in even just a few months with the Threat of Carneys more centered approach.
Now while I beleive that is true , with Poilievre strong words towards immigration lately, something he avoided all through the election lead up in my mind is now calculating that Pierre’s teams is more concerned internally then I thought .
Hes making moves to strengthen hes more right base right now to counter any move the PC’s could make on his leadership.
Jeez.
I’ve been tired of this guy since he came on the scene. Is he gone yet?
Trudeau getting out was the best thing that happened to the Liberal Party of Canada since about 2017 or so.
Take a hint PP. You’re not loved.
