I mean, IRL women are scrutinized 1000% more intensely than men in almost all professions. Look at the 2016 and 2024 elections, men AND white women chose an adjudicated rapist and convicted felon over a former Secretary of State and former prosecutor purely due to their sex (and race).

So, I’ve always hated the cliched narrative of “if women ran the world”…
1) maybe pushing that narrative all the time builds up a resistance to women characters acting poorly. So…feeds into what we’re warned about of what we reap, in this case cheap feel good narratives that are long term detrimental and just dumb.
2) hopefully the Trump administration’s women in power fully power drunk and acting like tinpot dictators finally puts down forever that narrative.
3) there are toxic men AND women. For sure the ratio is higher in men….but for all the people who chose not to believe it, please finally do. There are a TON of shitty toxic women and just electing more women isn’t going to get toxic people out of government.
4) stop saying “if women ran the world”. Say:
“It’s not about men or women. It’s about assholes. And they’re everywhere.”
“If power came with therapy and a mirror”
“If more emotionally intelligent people ran the world”
“If the world were led by caregivers, not conquerors”
“If collaboration outranked domination”
She’s not wrong, Carrie is constantly criticized and the affair is always brought up.
Tony Soprano is possibly the most well respected and idolized character in television history. His *multiple* affairs are child’s play compared to some of the things he does throughout the show lol. I say this as a big fan of both T and James Gandolfini as well as Carrie and SJP.
It’s not the actor it’s the writing.
You want the audience to sympathise with a killer then you write it that way. If you want someone to hate the killer then guess what… write it that way.
If you want to sound bitter then do a shitty interview like this.

A male character who displayed Carrie’s many, many, many faults would be similarly excoriated. SJP is deluding herself.
She’s not entirely wrong, but Carrie still sucks.
She is purposefully using the wrong word to describe the behaviour of the character to make it about sexism, when the character simply aged badly and the present incarnation is extry uninteresting.
I never blamed Sarah Ramirez for being forced into act thar character. But is only blame sjp for being uninteresting as carrie.
Nothing with being a woman but if your character is just overall annoying I’m not going to like it, because you can be an evil character but be fun to watch others are just annoying overall. And they have started this trend in recent years of making leads extremely dislikeable and then they wonder why people don’t like the characters.
Uma Thurman in Kill Bill would beg to differ.
And what about the Amy Schumer movies, like Trsinwreck, where she behaved badly and was popular?
