Next month, Keir Starmer’s government will publish its National Security Strategy, and alongside it, a long-planned “audit” on the UK’s relations with [China](https://inews.co.uk/news/head-mi6-china-shut-down-uk-cities-3704031?srsltid=AfmBOoromexRssx5eF65hN9yW7PExam9E1s95urcUtAxgV2QdM0aY9Fx&ico=in-line_link).
While the National Security Strategy is expected to be stark on the threats facing the UK in 2025, some fear that the China audit will pull its punches due to [the government’s desire to engage with Beijing to help economic growth](https://inews.co.uk/news/politics/china-threatens-jobs-british-steel-3641056?srsltid=AfmBOorTPd5hRUdZKRBVdQjPunuYZdgLna9on1tI0ihpTfbOFSdylbbF&ico=in-line_link) and cooperate on tackling climate change.
The Labour administration, under Starmer and Foreign Secretary David Lammy, tries to differentiate between Russia – [branded as an “immediate and pressing threat” ](https://inews.co.uk/news/politics/this-is-what-will-happen-if-putin-attacks-the-uk-with-a-nuclear-missile-3734544?srsltid=AfmBOoryK1ni3cMJlbZsckwVKo1Pa27MimlMnKMhAGih55J5Ljqt3YW6&ico=in-line_link)in the recent Strategic Defence Review – and China, which it sees as “a sophisticated and persistent challenge”.
Yet that same SDR spelled out just how rapid China’s nuclear proliferation is expected to be by the end of the decade.
As an American who expects a conflict with China over Taiwan, no I’m not concerned. I feel that China is stable and responsible enough to not misuse nukes.
Iran powerlessness in front of Israel air superiority rings a wake up bell. Countries like Saudi must work 24/7 to get better. I’m not sure crown prince is more powerful than the Iran supreme leader. But Israel has demonstrate they can take you out anytime.
China will take some time to match the number of nukes of either USA or Russia. In a way it is good as it will reduce or eliminate USA or Russia option to simply start a nuke attack if the international situation does not go the way they wanted.
China won’t start a nuclear war.
