Poilievre wendet sich an erfolglose Kandidaten für Feedback, sagen Konservative: „Er macht selbst einen Post-Mortem“

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the evidence points to Poilievre simply lacking the intellectual horsepower to actually deliver. He lacks foresight, he struggles to adapt to changing circumstances, and he’s been outplayed multiple times by *Justin Trudeau.* He’s relentless and that can get him what he wants sometimes, but it doesn’t mean he’s a good fit for a bigger job. Looking at actions and results, he just doesn’t seem particularly bright.

The writing is on the wall and he can’t put it together.

I think his intentions are noble here but this isn’t how it’s done. Firstly, full credit to Poilievre here. Reaching out to your unsuccessful candidates is something not many federal leaders would do and I think we can critique many of Poilievre’s choices but this is a good thing he’s doing on the front. However, it is not his job to run a post mortem.

The thing about election post mortems – especially from a losing party – is that they have to be thorough, have actual data, and not be anecdotal. For instance, I think the first thing I’d be asking if I were the CPC would be about messaging and branding. Local candidates were scarcely losing because of CPC HQ resources or the CPC HQ not giving enough attention to certain candidates, they were losing because of the central branding and Poilievre’s branding. That’s it.

You can conduct a post mortem on the CPC candidates who lost but the fact is many of them overperformed in the first place — the one main person who underperformed was Poilievre.

I recognize what Poilievre is trying to do here and I respect it greatly. I have always said that leader’s of political parties should be far more engaged than they actually are. This shouldn’t be a substitute for an actual months-long post mortem though.

Not isolating the majority of the population by summoning the “woke” boogeyman would be a great first step. My life is one being lived by many others too, but PP and his supporters think everything and everyone I hold closest to me are bad cause “woke”.

Examples of how PP and his rhetoric would strip all meaning, nuance, and humanity from the lived experiences of me and other Canadians:

Indigenous man and a white woman in a loving relationship for over a decade? That’s contributing to white replacement so: woke.

Cousin in a loving relationship with another woman and they have a child? Well they’re lesbians and obviously abusing their child by not having a man in the home so: woke.

Sister is a recovering addict who, after finally leaving her dangerous ex, needed an abortion cause her ex tried to kill her a few times? Well that’s what happens when you give women rights and when people just want handouts without taking any responsibility for their abuse so: woke.

Woman decides to get a degree in Computer Science and finds a wonderful job? Well, we all know women can’t do stuff like this without help so she must’ve been hired cause the company had DEI quotas to fill so: woke.

You have a friend with some severe mental health disorders and they talked to you about the best way to interact with them so everyone is comfortable? Everyone has gotten so soft, the world isn’t fair and no one coddled me when I needed support the most so: woke.

Sure my examples above might seem like straw men but this is all actual things I’ve heard from the “anti-woke” / PP crowd. Who exactly wins in PP’s world? Cause it’s not people like me and those I love. Last election I made sure everyone in my life and beyond knew the real PP and got over 6 people to go out and vote. I will fucking do it again, again, and again, AND AGAIN until PP and his anti-woke losers get the hint that Canada belongs to the majority, not the minority he is trying to cater to

And when he doesn’t like being told that he’s the problem, he will refuse to listen and double down. He’s not going to be leader for much longer. The entire party should be doing a post mortem and take a very serious looking at themselves. They have lost four elections in a row. The constant attempt to appease the far right then have to moderate themselves to appel to the majority of Canadians in the centre doesn’t work.
