This makes my heart happy.
I’m watching the Big Beautiful Parade and it is even more pathetic than I could have ever imagined.
It is so small and lack luster and there are so few people.
I personally think Trump keeps standing to salute so he doesn’t fall asleep.
It’s embarrassingly bad. Definitely not the show of force he thought it would be.

I’ve seen a million people march to central park in NYC. I’ve been to the common plenty of times, there’s no way a million people will fit there. …maybe a million passed through? or near?

I just got back! I was honestly kinda worried that someone would do something stupid but it was super chill.
The overlap with Pride ended up being a good thing, it boosted attendance, and it meant there was already space reserved for a big event and there were amenities like Porta-Potties and first aid stations close at hand.
Boston Common has 20 ha, so it’s about 2,115,000 feet2.
1,000,000 people would mean a tightly-packed crowd filling all of Boston Common (a maximum of 846,000 people, at a maximum density of 2.5 ft2 per person, which would be standing-room only with no maneuvering room), and large crowds throughout the surrounding area.
I can’t watch the video because news videos are full of migraine triggers, which trigger my migraines. If anyone can point to still photos, especially from an elevation, that might help.

There were not a million protestors in Boston today. Who even came up with that? You would have to jam the equivalent of two sold-out Fenway Parks on every single block from Boston Common all the way past Kenmore Square.

I was in Salem for a wedding in April. Otherwise I wouldn’t have been there. Beautiful place and people. Thanks so much for this. I’ve got faith in you guys. Boston strong.
The best sign I saw at my local No Kings protest on the west coast said „They’re eating the checks! They’re eating the balances!“
Just thought I’d share.

Lol yhe estimates for the whole east coast were around 2 million this morning. My small city in the Hudson Valley, NY had at least a few thousand which was much larger than I anticipated. The real numbers (not that they are really easily countable) are going to be so much larger than the estimates beforehand. All peaceful too BTW, much to the chagrin of the MAGAts

It’s a surprising number, but not shocking for Boston. What WAS shocking was seeing the streets of much smaller (more conservative) cities completely flooded with protestors. This was a big day for the entire country, and I’m thrilled to see Boston being extra, once again!

To put this in perspective, the entire greater Boston area has just under 5 million people and there were several town-wide protests within the greater Boston area that are not counted in this number.

Is this real? A million people would be top ten largest concerts in world history (not that this was a concert)
A million people is more than double the total attendance of Woodstock. It’s an unfathomable number of humans out and about in one place. The sound of them chanting would shake the earth like a NASCAR race… hell, the biggest NASCAR events only have like 120,000 people I think. A million is an insane number. Incredible.

That number is so far off it’s not even funny. Only 7 million live in the entire state. Boston common can only hold around 30k people. Public transit only moves around 800k people per day across the entire state.
Boston pride parade always gets a big turn out. But by big I mean 10s of thousands across the whole parade route.
The parades for sports championships get around a million people. But that is literally a sea of people for miles on end. It’s quite literally impossible that a million people were anywhere near Boston common
