„Der Weg zum Autoritarismus“: Tim Walz sagt, die Zeit für „streng formulierte Briefe“ ist vorbei – der Gouverneur von Minnesota sagte, dass der Weg zur Tyrannei „übersät ist, dass Menschen Ihnen sagen, dass Sie überreagieren“, „überreagieren“.

You know what happens with that letter? It’s gets tossed in the trash
Any Democratic “strategist” telling us to calm down is complicit. We must act to stop what is so obviously happening or we will be in a full-fledged dictatorship. We have a hard time imagining it, but the US has actually supported so many dictatorships. Brazil’s military dictatorship is a decent comparison to what’s going on now.
Yeah Ive given up on this country, I’ll be leaving before the end of the summer. Too many Americans have their heads up their ass about what’s happening and I mean to get out while i still can.
I hope he runs in 2028
It never was the time for sternly written letters. Dem leadership dropped the ball, and their base suffers.
Except for the usual few, haven’t heard a peep out of some Dems.
That’s the same exact path that led to Republicans and SCOTUS destroying Constitutional Rights of women in 2022.
Something which is also a sure sign of a country embracing tyranny.
>Curbs on women’s rights tend to accelerate in backsliding democracies, a category that includes the United States, according to virtually every independent metric and watchdog.
>“There is a trend to watch for in countries that have not necessarily successfully rolled it back, but are introducing legislation to roll it back,” Rebecca Turkington, a University of Cambridge scholar, said of abortion rights, “in that this is part of a broader crackdown on women’s rights. And that goes hand in hand with creeping authoritarianism.”
>For all the complexities around the ebb and flow of abortion rights, a simple formula holds surprisingly widely. Majoritarianism and the rights of women, the only universal majority, are inextricably linked. Where one rises or falls, so does the other. https://archive.ph/Km4UO
Just about every time I’ve been told I’m overreacting about some sort of worry around Trump and MAGA, it has ended up becoming true.
“They won’t go after documented immigrants.”
“The red state you live in won’t go after IVF.”
“Trump will help the economy”
It’s all bullshit responses and I’m tired of it. Ever since 2016 and especially after Covid, I have felt like my family and some of my friends live a completely delusional lie. Their brains were broken by a fat orange man that can’t dance and can barely string a sentence together who has absolutely no morals. Then you get all the “Christian” people who raised you to have morals and high expectations of leaders being the ones minimizing the disgusting things about this guy. The cognitive dissonance is exhausting. They don’t give a fuck that this guy was a friend of a child rapist. I’m not really sure there is any way after that to break through to them. He could shoot someone out in the open and these “Christians” would find a way to minimize it.
“Well the guy he shot probably was a lib and deserved it.”
We have a felon as president who became a felon because of campaign finance fraud. And no one gives a shit that he ran again and won.
The reason a ton of people support Trump is because even though he’s a jackass people feel he has power to do something about their lives. They aren’t wrong apparently since the law has no power over him. The Democratic Party needs to grow a spine and show they can actually do something to help the working class. If Trump wanted to get rid of student loans, then he would actually get it done. That’s disgusting for me to think about. Biden and Garland have shown that the Democratic Party will pretend to stand up for people and then won’t follow through.
> The Minnesota governor said that the path to tyranny „is littered with people telling you you’re overreacting“
It’s called gaslighting and, sadly, it’s extremely effective.
Everything Trump and his supporters do is about generating push-back and preemptively framing that push-back as unhinged and dangerous. Then they tell their followers and people who aren’t paying close attention that it’s the other side that’s crazy and that vigilance is even more necessary than before.
It’s the playbook that has brought us to where we are today.
Stop fighting fires with paperwork.
Chuck Schumer is a zionist stooge. He MUST resign immediately!
This is 1000% it. Walz is the leader we need.
Trump promised to do everything he’s doing and his own voters said it was fear mongering to quote his words.
It was a crazy nut job liberal who killed them for voting against her fellow democrats on healthcare for illegals.
Lmao there are so many people ON REDDIT still saying “not yet. We still need to win them over. Still some good people there” fuck that
No shit. It’s been obvious for years. Should’ve been extremely obvious on Jan 6 2021, it’s unbelievable the number of people who have their heads in the sand thinking it’ll all blow over or that democrats just need to tweak their messaging to win the next election etc. People need to wake up! These are fascists. They are evil. They don’t care if you die. They enjoy knowing people die because of them. They want you to suffer, they want you to be peasants, crawling and begging them for scraps. They will imprison people for no reason, they will end up mass killing people if they’re not stopped. Because that is what every government like this ends up doing.
They should have run him as president instead of Harris. This bullshit country still isn’t ready for a strong black woman to lead them.
Tim is a real one. Period point blank. ***This*** is what patriotism looks like.
The fact that the Dems didn’t let him loose during the campaign infuriates me beyond belief. Dems are weak (with few exceptions like Walz, AOC etc), so the American public must show them and the world that they can fight fascism just as well at home in 2025 as abroad 80 years ago. Stay safe protesting and pushing the fascists back. Don’t give them an inch.
Passivity Will Be Unforgivable.
The time for sternly-worded letters was over in 2016, Dems.
GOP started a civil war in 2017 with steady, consistent escalatiom of violence and right-wing terror. Dems have been hand-wringing, calling for civility and encouraging everyone to do nothing. We need to recognize maga for what it is, a violent terrorist organization intent on removing everyone from the planet who isnt just like them. They are in all ways the same as Nazis.
Ohhhh Tim. Now the Cheeto will call for your arrest and federalize your national guard. Time to secede.
Know what’s good for stopping tyranny? The 2nd amendment.
The path to tyranny is littered with people telling you you’re overreacting… like when Walz defended sending sick patients back to nursing homes during COVID-19.
Tim Walz is now voice of reason? Yes, listen to Tim Walz. But before you listen to Tim Walz, also remember it is Tim Walz who was a joke on the campaign trail, it is Tim Walz who was chosen for having no chance of challenging anyone as VP.
Okay, go with Tim Walz but before you do, what is Tim Walz suggesting. I’m assuming he has a plan right? Protest? What exactly does that mean now? Does that mean LA style? BLM style? What style? And to what end? Protests do not work in scenarios where the whole system is captured. Do you understand the reality here? There is no court, there is no Congress, there is Trump, essentially. The military and intelligence agencies are captured. Any silly idea you have that you can overthrow anything is not applicable.
If you do want to resist, the first thing to do is to strengthen where you are. Now how does one do that? Well, for one, there needs to be a lot of coordination. But for two, and this is the more important factor, you have to perform in governance for people, to care enough to stand up. The Democrats have nothing to show for 8 years now aside from resistance. No policies, no results, nothing, in fact a denial of reality so great it made Trump seem wise in comparison for many.
It doesn’t even matter who’s in power, all you guys do is resist—resist for the Blacks, resist for the Trans, resist for undocumented, and now resist Trump.
You have as much magnitude as Tim Walz, as much intellect as Tim Walz, and finally your choices in life are as good as Tim Walz, who appointed a guy who has now murdered his own fellow politicians. Yes, Tim Walz hired the man who shot the two lawmakers.
But sure—go Team Walz. Follow Tim as he resists the same way he resisted the Chinese in China.
He’s completely right here.
Imagine being Kamala’s team and telling this guy to stop speaking up. What a fucking fumble.
Absolutly!!
And dead political opponents.
I agree with Tim Walz!
Serious contender for president when this is all over IMO
I’ll say it everytime. The anti Trump demographic has been more than waiting for something to happen. When they act like it is our job to do something outside of elections (we have more than three years for the next one), we have to ask why they do this political theater. Are they trying to incite violence? Otherwise, it is their job. Sounds like a good idea to take care of him, maybe do it for a change rather than constantly wine about him. The rest of us peasants will wait until next election.
And no, this doesn’t mean Harris has a chance so send her in again.
Walz supports genocide.
This will not end well
