    1. Oh cool first one here

Anyway fuck trump and I would love any conservative to tell me why the spending on this is justified

    2. Meanwhile…
Two state lawmaking democrats got shot by a guy impersonating an officer in Minnesota.

Nothing in the world could get me to care enough to watch this trash and I’m a veteran.

      Taxpayer funded military birthday parade

That’s OUR money we worked for being thrown away

Sure glad DOGE was able to fire thousands of people so that they could do a parade for the orange clown.

    6. Not going but would like to see some aircraft. Any aviation nerds here know when take off times are so I can track them on FlightRadar? I’m hoping I can see some here around Dulles.

He cut tens of millions in funding for veterans and is spending tens of millions of our tax dollars to use the military as a prop at his bday party. This is a disgrace to the men and women who protect our country.

    8. I don’t think this topic is as important as the shootings in Minnesota. Consider making that a sticky instead or maybe, less desirable, combine this thread with the no kings protest thread. Maybe just start a running Civil War thread like they do in WorldNews for the Ukraine war.

What’s the over/under on TACO coming out in a military outfit he had made for his big day?

What about a 90s TACO Bell uniform? That would be great.

Who is going to pop out of the giant birthday cake now that Trump and Elon broke up?

So glad my tax dollars went to this instead of solving actual problems. Hasn’t he also spent like the same amount or more on golfing since he took office? But I guess slashing agencies, burning down consumer protections, axing food safety, and making himself (and the US pretty universally loathed right now) the laughing stock of the world deserves a little recompense.

I’m voting for a flood and COVID outbreak as the most likely outcomes here.

All my life as an outsider I held America in the highest esteem. What I believed about America is that even if it strays, the people have the power to make a decision and vote differently.

I still want to believe that and that the American people are not a reflection of its leadership.

This North Korea style military parade is not a good sign for me.

    16. The army was formed 250 years ago to kick a king out of this country.

      Ironic.

      Happy Birthday US Army.
      Happy No Kings Day!

Republicans will never be forgiven for letting this military parade happen on American soil. We are forever a lesser nation for these actions.

    18. Guess the army couldn’t figure out how to explain their anniversary was not about the Narcissist-In-Chief.

I get 250 is a big year and we should celebrate. It’s just horrible timing tbh.

    20. A reminder:

      – Trump dodged military service during the Vietnam War when a [doctor who was a family friend](https://www.cnn.com/2018/12/26/politics/trump-bone-spurs-vietnam-war) diagnosed him with „bone spurs“
      – he criticized Vietnam veteran John McCain, claiming he wasn’t a hero because he was captured and spent five and a half years as a POW: „He’s a war hero because he was captured. [I like people that weren’t captured,](https://www.politico.com/story/2015/07/trump-attacks-mccain-i-like-people-who-werent-captured-120317) okay?“
      – he diverted [$ 2.5 billion dollars](https://www.militarytimes.com/news/your-military/2020/06/26/appeals-court-trump-wrongly-diverted-25-billion-in-milcon-funds-for-border-wall/) in US military funding to build his border wall with Mexico (another vanity project)
      – he reportedly referred to American soldiers who died during WW1 as [„losers“ and „suckers“](https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2020/09/trump-americans-who-died-at-war-are-losers-and-suckers/615997/)
      – he has [repeatedly cozied up to dictators](https://www.cnn.com/2019/07/02/politics/donald-trump-dictators-kim-jong-un-vladimir-putin) such as Vladimir Putin

There are more points that could be mentioned here, but it’s very clear from even a cursory sampling of his behaviour that Trump doesn’t truly support or respect the American military. This parade is pageantry in service of his own ego, and if I were an American I would be outraged that [$ 45 million dollars](https://thehill.com/policy/defense/5347224-trump-military-parade-criticism-cost/) was being spent on a self-congratulatory vanity project, especially after his administration has railed against government waste and used it as justification to cut people’s jobs.

As a Canadian, I find it baffling how many Americans claim to believe in the constitution and the principles of freedom and democracy upon which your republic is supposedly built while supporting a man who embodies the antithesis.

I wish they’d stop calling it a military parade.

      It’s a birthday parade.
