yes but carney already said he is coming. we don’t need to poke the mentally unstable orange bear for some goodwill gatcha, which just will hurt average Canadians with more pointless tariffs and random conquests he wants.
But why? Regardless of what we may think of him. He’s the president of the United States. Banning him from coming would accomplish nothing.

Yeah no shit he’s getting preferential treatment. He’s the president of a G7 country. Do I like that we’re letting a rapist in the country run amok in Alberta? Why would we do that with the most important country regarding Canada’s foreign policy and trade.

I’m also for second chances and rebuilding your like just like Wab Kinew has done.
But the double standards of trying to deny a right wing conservative politician and ignoring the criminal past of left wing liberal ones is incredibly ironic.
Even better we could hold him at the border for a few days and then deport him to El Salvador, without due process of course.
I think the best solution to this problem is to have made him fill out a bunch of paperwork that gave him special access just for the G7 with very specific time frames that he is allowed entrance. This shows that we take border security very seriously but understand the unique nature of the current situation. We are not denying him access across our border but we are not giving him freedom either.
I think it might be an issue when he’s no longer the president. But his head of state, he no likely travels under a diplomatic passport that provides him different privileges that normal citizens do not have
How are we gonna complain so much about Trudeau’s virtue signaling and then complain also when someone takes the pragmatic approach?

There is no doubt that Canada could theoretically deny Donald Trump entry to Canada for the G7, but to what end?
We all know that Trump has thinner skin than an onion, that he is petty, vindictive. and vengeful. Trump unfortunately is in the position of making life hell for any particular segment of the Canadian population that he deems responsible.
Does it make it right? No. Will Trump ever suffer any consequences for his actions? Again, no. It’s not fair. It’s not right. But there we are. Neither you, nor I, nor the Canadian government is going to change it. We can only hope that time catches up to Trump sooner rather than later.
