I’m sure Schumer will write a strong worded letter to Noem. If actions have no real consequences, there is no red line. There is only a red line if there are consequences.

This manhandling of protestors against fascism and genocide HAS BEEN HAPPENING for quite a while now and the outrage from said politicians is kinda a little late to the party.
Black Lives Matter peaceful protests were met with extreme violence. Students camping on the green were “manhandled”, arrested and attacked by both police and counter protesters.
The whole damned point of THE POEM is that you stand up early and often, even when, no scratch that, ESPECIALLY WHEN you are not (yet) the target.
Anyway, I appreciate the outrage. Welcome to the fight.

The sad, unfortunate reality is top Dem lawmakers getting treated by Trump’s thug regime the way everyday people are being treated by the same regime is *critical* for mobilizing dramatic action *from the top* against the regime. Until the Padillas and the Schumers and the Pelosis, etc., are directly impacted where they fear for their safety and lives they’ll stick to their milquetoast, performative opposition.

Repubs are able to whip their constituents into a lockstep frenzy at the drop of a hat for the smallest perceived infractions, but now, as genuine, true-blue goose-stepping fascism stares down our country, Dems are using the most milquetoast, limpwrist, „um excuse me“ language to try and draw attention to the dismantling of our rights.
It’s like they’re watching some maniac beat the shit out of everyone at McDonalds and saying „hey, no cutting in line, sir!“
This was dominating the feed yesterday and I couldn’t understand why it was such a big deal. We’ve already crossed all the lines. How is this worse than saying Newsom should be tarred and feathered (Johnson)? Or arrested (trump)? Or refusing to let sitting representatives into government buildings? Or defying court orders? Or telling people to run over protesters this weekend (desantis)? Or giving out clues to a violent mob about Pelosi’s location in the building (boebert)?
It reminds me of the Access Hollywood tape, and everyone was like oh he’s finished now, and I was like… really? This? It just doesn’t seem that much worse to me? Is this the first time someone has actually put hands on an elected official? I feel like it isn’t but I can’t be sure.
