Carney not attending will be blamed by some as not being a „real“ Canadian or not „caring“ about Western Canada.
Carney attending would have been blamed by some as wasting public funding and precious resources in a time of political and economic crisis with our Southern neighbour.
I think Carney made the right choice. At least he’s demonstrating that he’s serious about being a PM (even though he is a fan of hockey, having been a hockey player himself).
