      Of course they’re excited. The rhetoric the GOP has used to talk about Democrats and those they consider “other” has increasingly become hostile and dehumanizing since Trump’s first presidency. We’re just the enemy that’s “destroying the country” to them now. The administration fully supports and gives a vision their most violent fantasies now. Having the showdown in the “Democratic Stronghold” that is California even more so.

      They want this violence. They’ve wanted it for almost a decade now. So many people expected common decency, empathy, and humanity to keep people peaceful. But from everything happening right now, it’s clear that the thin line keeping people from committing acts of violence outright is the fear of consequences.

      At the office yesterday, a guy was talking about loving what’s going on in LA and how hilarious he found the videos of people getting shot with rubber bullets. He was talking to me since we were the only 2 around. Simply ignored him & walked away as he simply showed himself to be somebody that I’d rather not engage with and I’m not about to cause a confrontation at our place of business.

      It sounds dumb but this is the most unnerving to me. The smug, gleeful attitude everyone in law enforcement and government has about hurting people. It’d still be bad if they did it with a professional demeanor but it just feels like bullying and more than a little psychotic. Like inmates are running the asylum.
