You have to pick your side then. When the military came back from Vietnam they did not come home to cheering crowds. They spent their lives dealing with the war and what the powerful made them do for nothing.
Being the tool of tyranny when you have to impose it on your own home, friends and family is going to result in suicides.
Hopefully they’re severely conflicted about going against the US Constitution and their fellow Americans.
Are they? I hope so. Military folks at Fort Bragg seemed pretty stoked to have Trump there. Troubling, honestly.
Terrorizing their fellow citizens was probably not why they signed up to be in the armed forces.

I guess, but *we* don’t need to draw that distinction, *they* do. I’ll blame them both for voting for Trump and for following Trump’s illegal orders.

Myself and all my vet friends do not understand why there isn’t more push back from the brass. I get a grunt can’t necessarily refuse a deployment order, but the regional commander could at least put up resistance and brief the troops on the departure from routine. These are Marines after all.
What? Aren’t the troops and Marines thrilled to be used as pawns by a dementia-addled grandpa who dodged serving the country?
Yet he claims la would have been burning if it wasn’t for the marines and national guard being there. He hasn’t invoked the insurrection act yet and they are under federal orders, so guarding a building, federal assets, so how they have exactly helped lapd I’m unsure. His claims are rubbish, as normal. They can’t arrest, they can’t assist or do anything.

These are UNLAWFUL orders. There are provisions for not following UNLAWFUL orders.

If Democratic leadership had a spine, they would be loudly and repeatedly promising pardons and reinstatement for service members who disobey Trump’s unlawful orders.
If you show up against the American people you’re not „troubled“, you’re *complicit.* You’re guilty.

Marine recruiter called the house last night. Felt bad for him. Hell of a time to try to recruit anyone with a modicum of critical thinking skills. Why would anyone who knows anything about the military want to work under guys like Hegseth and Trump? Another brain drain caused by this administration. More polarization. Why would women want to work for rapey men? Why would men want to work for stupid and reckless men? Any promotion will be difficult in an atmosphere where moving up the ranks is cast as DEI if you aren’t the white male christian standard. Everything Trump touches is tarnished, to put it politely, including our professional military.
These aren’t random rioters destroying stuff and looting, they’re protesters. They’re not up against faceless attackers, they’re up against their parents, grandparents, kids, family friends, former classmates, former teammates, etc.
Even if it isn’t literally those people, that is what those people represent.
This is gonna fuck up recruitment for decades, most of our military comes from urban communities that are the focus of these attacks by a rogue agency. This is why we dont use american troops on american soil. People dont want to join an organization with such a stain on it. The military is for WAR FIGHTERS, not a civilian police force. This will weaken America in the long run.
