      It’s a summer weekend. There are cocktail parties to attend to beg for money. These guys don’t usually hang out in DC during the weekends. it’s why they pushed for more flights out of DCA.

      I hope News stations cover the buld up to this parade. The parade stands around trump, which will be relatively empty of high-ranking congressmen. There will be a scramble to fill in. Should be entertaining to watch.

      Fun fact, an actual King, my King Charles, is having his parade the same day. His birthday is in November, but the celebration is based on the convenience of attendees. If that doesn’t interest you, the Pope, Leo, is doing a streamed mass event Saturday at 2:30.
      Lots of real options, doesn’t have to be a Trump day.

      Trump lost DC by 84 points; it’s not like he’s loved there, far from it. Any locals who do bother to show up are likely going to be protesting.

      For the same reason that the wealthy now wear unadorned, low-key fashion, the US President customarily doesn’t stoop to garish, overt displays of power. Everyone knows it’s the most powerful chair in the world. To run a bunch of tanks through the capitol is pathetic beyond measure.

      He truly is an idiot’s version of what a powerful leader looks like. Military parades haven’t been in fashion for literally hundreds of years. It impresses no one. It diminishes the office and his own profile, and he can’t see it because he’s just a hopeless fucking idiot.

      I know a lot of people are scared at calling in the national guard, and they should be, but they should also understand that this is not some master plan. This is the worst, least-effective thing he could possibly do to consolidate power.

      The only thing this flex will do is cement and solidify opposition to him. It benefits him not at all.

      It’s because not even the propaganda faux patriotism bubble can make this look like something that Americans do.

      We don’t do military parades except in extraordinary circumstances. 1991 at the conclusion of the gulf war was the last time we had one, and that seems like a premature parade in hindsight since we were back in Iraq by 2003 and stuck there for 20 years after.

      We do graduations for military members on military bases. We have honor guard for funerals. We do not do North Korea style parades through American cities.

      Even if you wanted to do this, do it on the interstate, not on the streets of an American city. At least you can make the argument that the interstate was created for the purpose of the military being able to mobilize countrywide in the event of a Soviet invasion. At least that you can argue from a historical perspective.

      Remember how much it triggered MAGA to be called weird during the last election? This is a step beyond that, because it goes against everybody’s understanding and experience of what it means to be a patriotic American.

      The right wants to have a show of patriotism, while our country is no longer doing the things that were legitimately something to be a source of patriotism about.

      USAID funding cut and kids going hungry.

      NASA budget being cut, even though NASA pays greater dividends than any other federal program.

      We’ve just had military deployed in LA when they didn’t need to be deployed, and now you want people to enjoy a parade for „Flag Day“it just so happens to coincide with a serial narcissist’s birthday?

      41 Republican Senators confirmed *not* attending, 9 no comment on attending or not, and one Senator had not been reached for comment.

      Obviously, zero Democratic Senators attending.

      No every single republican, and Democrat for that matter should be there standing at the side of the road for the full duration. Make them witness what they let happen over a decade of petty power gates while letting the US fall into the hands of the orange shit gibbon and technocrats.
