      ***From Rolling Stone’s Tim Dickinson:***

*A national day of protest is set for June 14. Can non-violent resistance counter Trump’s authoritarian show of force?*

Even before Donald Trump militarized his crackdown on pro-immigrant protesters in Los Angeles, a massive, nationwide demonstration was in the works for Saturday, June 14.

The “No Kings” protests have been imagined as a peaceful uprising to counter President Trump throwing himself a military parade on his birthday (which is also Flag Day and the 250th anniversary of the Army). Trump is organizing a spectacle befitting a tin-pot tyrant, including a procession of tanks, Howitzers, mobile rocket launchers and other war machines rolling through the streets of Washington, D.C., as military aircraft, including Apache helicopters, soar overhead.

Protest organizers have billed June 14 as a “nationwide day of defiance,” during which Americans across the country stand up to “reject authoritarianism” and reclaim patriotism in the name of democracy. “The flag doesn’t belong to President Trump. It belongs to us,” the protest website declares.

The key number is 12% of the US population. If we can turn out 30 million plus this weekend this is the size that gets change.

I’ll be out there protesting. Looking forward to hearing about Trump’s tiny crowd at his birthday party!

    4. Does anyone know if these protests are being organized at the same time in any other country? Would be lovely if the international community joined this protest ❤️💕

    5. captain_intenso on

The right will assuredly claim that protestors are protesting the brave men and women of the armed services.

    6. Mass protest is definitely required — as is a general strike — but the name of this protest is incorrect. Trump isn’t trying to make himself „king“. Trump is trying to establish a presidential dictatorship in the United States of America. And he must be stopped.

    7. Will the protests be able to be close enough to the fuckparade to be noticeable and disruptive ??

When are Media outlets gonna start side by side reels of Jan6 and current Protests?

Walking through the purpose of each and ask callers to provide insights into their understanding of what each means when it comes to freedom of speech, protest, gather.

There should also be a ticker that shows how many civilians vs armed police are getting injured.

In the face of all that America has been going through I would love to see a new sense of democratic unity grow in response to MAGA rot.

Show up and stand by your team! The world is rooting for you!

    10. If there was ever a time to be direct and uncompromising in our messaging, it’s now.

Trump is intentionally inciting violence to invoke martial law.

MAGA is the American equivalent of the Nazis.

Standing up to tyrants is a reflection of core American values.

The most effective way to do so is through mass nonviolent civil resistance.

This seems like it’s shaping up to be one of the greatest opportunities to rob your progressive neighbors house mid day in a really long time.

    12. Question. If this is so important, and the consequences so dire, why do we keep talking like if the protests aren’t perfectly peaceful than it’s a failure? We are protesting life and death issues and some might find that worth fighting for

    13. Different_Glass5043 on

Reminder of the protests in 08 / Indivisible- much of the violence was caused by provacators from outside of ranks of thousands who there to protest peacefully.

    14. Trump baby balloon HAS to be photographed with Trump also in the background or foreground. Challenge.

    15. Anyone calling it a birthday parade is acting in bad faith. It’s the 250th anniversary of the Army, which happens to also be his birthday. It’s a significant milestone for the military, it’s not crazy to have a parade. Is it dystopian? Absolutely, but it’s not for his birthday

      > Trump has menaced demonstrators planning to show up at his military procession: “If any protester wants to come out, they will be met with very big force,” he said Tuesday. Anticipating such a reaction, protest organizers specifically decided not to target the Trump parade route; there is not even a No Kings event planned in D.C. They envision, instead, demonstrators “showing up everywhere [Trump] isn’t — to say no thrones, no crowns, no kings.”

      That’ll show him!

    18. No!

TACO0Man will claim that millions attended the parade to honor him,

Now, Maybe if there was a parade and nobody attended?

    19. Particular_Treat1262 on

Mark my words, at least one persons going to attempt to block the parade and do an Americanised tiamen square- either ran through or gunned down.

      It won’t be pretty

Pope Leo is livestreaming on the 14th. Watch Pope Leo tear into Trump’s policies. Do NOT give ad revenue to the networks that air Trump’s small dick showcase.

Best way to protest is by not attending or watching it on TV. Go out to the beach, hike, play some golf, spend time with family, go gamble at the casino or get drunk at a bar. Bitch boy loves crowds and TV ratings. Do not give this fuck the satisfaction.

    22. Sufficient_Item5662 on

Think of all the work his parade is creating in road work repair alone. Not to mention having to replace sewer, water lines and electrical conduit. Those tanks are heavy. Good luck flushing your toilets for the next six months.

    23. I was born here. I belong here. My family belongs here. Not because of privilege, but because of the unyielding strength of generations who worked, built, and endured. I am a straight white American male, from a multi-generational Roman Catholic lineage. I make my own success—not from inherited wealth or connections, but from labor and persistence.

And still, I stand for justice. Not because it is easy, but because it is right. Because good people deserve protection. Because oppression, wherever it rises, must be resisted. I defend LGBTQ+ rights—not because I hold all their beliefs, but because their freedoms matter just as much as mine. I fight for immigrants—not because I have ever had to walk their path, but because I recognize their worth. Good people, regardless of background or status, make this nation stronger.

MAGA does not see this. They do not understand that diversity is power, that inclusion is strength. They fear change, cling to outdated hierarchies, and mistake exclusion for patriotism. But this country is not theirs alone. It belongs to all who strive, all who give, all who build—not just the ones who demand obedience to an outdated and unjust status quo.

Tolerance does not mean surrendering to intolerance. The paradox of tolerance is real—we cannot allow those who wield hate to hide behind the guise of free speech. The moment intolerance becomes oppression, the moment bigotry turns to aggression, I step forward. Because justice demands resistance.

I do not simply oppose tyranny—I rage against it. Not in reckless fury, but in steadfast, deliberate conviction. Against those who silence dissent. Against those who reject the idea that all people deserve dignity. Against those who believe that power should belong only to them.

The silent masses will not stay silent forever. And when the time comes, those who stand against progress will learn the strength of those who refuse to be erased.

    24. Many Canadians will be joining you, except ours is called ‚No Tyrants‘ because we do have that one king.

Since this administration seems hellbent on making any conspiracy theory come true, I wouldn’t be surprised if they picked this event for a false flag.

Wedding invitations have a 70-80% yes on the RSVP.

Only 70-80% of those show up.

Why does this sub and reddit hype things up to the point that its illogical and counter intuative to the cause? Millions….sure…. American protests have been tepid and what the fuck are you changing when its only on the weekend and outside 9-5?

The message your give, is „I cant take this more serious than my job“. So no one is going to take your weekend protests seriously.

    27. Fluffy_Lemming on

I’ve been to two anti-Trump protests so far in my mid-sized, ultra-conservative town. There was literally 0 police presence that I saw at either rally. Interested to see if they try to go LA on our asses.

    28. To anyone who is going

Please stay safe, and record as much as you can, happy protesting!
