No one knows where the line is for anyone.
* India – election meddling, fraud, murder
* China – as above, plus kidnapping and economic warfare
* USA – as above
* Russia – as above
* Israel – as above
* UK – spineless, friends only of convenience
If we are to consistently dwell on the high moral ground, we will go hungry.
Hypocrisy is survival. Not proud, but fed.
Imo we should look to other countries right now. That’s why I thought the Indonesia invite was a solid idea. They should have also invited Malaysia/Philippines/Nigeria/Brazil leaders as well.
That being said, I understand where Carney is coming from on inviting Modi. You want to keep India closer to avoid a stronger India-Russia-China bond. Also unlike Russia/China, India is democratic. So Modi will be gone next election, and maybe even the BJP popularity will drop. So that means closer ties with West. Better to start slowly building the bridge in the case of that.

Canada is hosting this year, but it’s not ***our*** party. Many other nations provide input on who they want at the table. Can we be real and let Heads of State deal with other Heads of State? Foreign affairs are so far above the average Canadian’s pay grade, I don’t see why our opinions matter honestly.
We’re in a serious trade war with our fascist neighbour to the south. 50% steel tariffs and all that.
We can’t also be cutting off China and India and everyone else on ethical grounds at the same time.
What, are New Zealand and Norway going to pick up all the slack?!
