My mother vaguely remembers, it was one of her first memories as a 6 year old in 1973. The beaches and the hotels were always packed.
I went two years ago with my mom, her brother initially wanted to come with us but couldn’t bring himself to visit after so much time (he remembers it more vividly).
In my opinion, it’s the biggest symbol of Turkish imperialism and the UN’s uselessness. The population left, they were promised they would return, and yet the UN has only done concession after concession in this issue. It’s sad.
