Yeah this is a case of copying the homework of someone taking a different class.
They clearly don’t know just how stripped to the bone councils have been for the last couple of decades

That will happen when you create solutions to problems that don’t exist.
There will be improvements possible to the way councils are run which makes things more efficient and reduces costs, the problem is that these things take hard work and time.
Reform have no intention of doing the hardwork though. They think they can just cut a bunch of stuff and magically everything improves.
Back in the day I think this was known as a “quango”
Edit: my bad, it doesn’t actually seem to mean that, I remembered it from the blairite era as a term for government departments that add layers of bureaucracy and cost money, but apparently it actually means Quasi-NGO. TIL.

It doesn’t matter whether there’s ACTUALLY any waste to cut. As long as they can convince the gullible that there is, and that they cut it, then it’s a win for them.
Politics is not about reality or truth. It’s about who is the best at lying.
Of course, it’s a pr stunt nothing more. After the years of austerity and multiple on verge of bankruptcy I can imagine there is little fat to cut from the bone.

Yes, but all they actually need to do is lie. They could quadruple their spending and bankrupt the council, but if they say that they’ve cut spending their followers will be lining up to explain why reality is incorrect.
DOGE was a gimmick in America and it will be a gimmick in the UK. Farage should come up with his own political solutions to real current issues instead of inventing issues to borrow solutions from other populists.
I imagine any actual savings will involve doing things that are unpalatable so will never happen

Cutting everything to the bone has been UK political dogma for 15 years. It’s made everything worse and more expensive, but let’s not pretend we haven’t already done this.
They’ll just lie to their voters and pretend national procurement budgets are what one council is spending. Labours communications team are so bad that they won’t even bring this up so reform get away with it.
They’re not there to uncover waste, they’re there to attack any efforts at meaningful structural change or inclusion.
The cuts will be
* Removal of all fridges from all Council Offices
* Removal of all kettles from all Council Offices
How dare the Council waste money allowing staff to make hot drinks like tea and coffee.
