It’s James Frey he wrote an autobiography that was full of lies. I don’t know why he’s back, but that’s why he went away.

Oprah should have shamed quacks like Dr Phil and Dr Oz, instead she made them celebrities, and now they are involved in the government.

His anger at Oprah is such narcissistic bullshit. When the book was first questioned, she stood by him and then had him on his show and clearly got uncomfortable with how many lies the book had. But then years later, she had him on again, and apologized for how it spiraled and how he was shamed and how she doesnt like when her guests are made to feel like that. The fact that he turns it around and says “she’s told 1,000 lies…” No James… she was a talk show host and she learned things as presented and tried to be genuine. And fair. And kind.
And what powerful men never do, but Oprah did more than a few times, was apologoze or explain her behavior.
You can’t shame someone who doesn’t have shame.
I’ve always been confused about this guy. Wasn’t he a nobody? What makes an autobiography of a nobody read-worthy? Like what made Oprah pick this book up from a total stranger with zero notoriety or recognition?
With how many horrible things Oprah has done and how many awful and immoral people she platformed, Oprah being against someoen by default has me assuming they aren’t that bad.

Oprah has helped so many fake ass people get a career that they weren’t qualified for and yet she’s still an icon to the ill informed.
Book is pretty good honestly
If only people gave Oprah the same kind of scrutiny. Maybe we wouldn’t have Dr. Oz or Phil… The world would certainly be a better place if everybody saw Oprah for the scam artist she is 30 years ago.
At this point, after Dr Oz and Dr Phil, he is the least offensive Oprah “thing”.
i think oprah overreacted because she felt like her brand reputation was at stake or something. A Million Little Pieces is a great book that i’ve re-read through the years, and I think the hoo-hah over it being a „memoir“ or not have little to no impact on the work’s ability to elicit emotion and introspection. if it’s fiction then whatever, it’s good fiction that really captures aspects of addiction very well.

Honestly I read the book after it came out that he made a bunch of it up and I still enjoyed it. Granted I was 16 years old at the time.
Lie or not, it was a great book. So was the follow up, a “memoir”.
Oprah trusted an addict and was embarrassed when it was discovered he wasn’t an honest addict. lol, I mean….. what did she expect?
