    1. If he loses any fans those ones are morons anyway. Yes for goodness sakes we wouldn’t want to offend neo-nazis and white supremacists.

    2. RollTh3Maps on

If you’re torn over Springsteen’s comments, you weren’t a Springsteen fan to begin with.

    3. Not really. The only people polarized is the journalist and media moguls working OT to make bank.

This is actually kind of fascinating- I saw the headlines about Springsteen going openly anti-Trump and didn’t think about the fallout for cover bands. There’s always something downstream you really don’t think about, I guess.

Since I was a kid, Springsteen has always felt like a fairly patriotic, pro-American musician who grew a huge fanbase writing songs about the working class, average American experience. I’m sure a fan would school me on the intricacies of his music and politics over the years, as the guy has become an institution and I’m sure has work that spans well outside the hits I heard on the radio. Him coming out anti-Trump didn’t surprise me and I was satisfied that it fit with what I would have expected from a smart, pro-American artist like him.

But of course the working class, mid-American experience is currently well divided by Trump and his rhetoric. Its a damn shame fans would listen to Trump, essentially nothing more than a entry level showman himself, over Springsteen; an artist with decades of really telling it like it is for people like them.

No. They don’t. Boss fans side with him. The others are MAGA noise makers

    6. Bruce has been a very public supporter of democrats and democratic candidates/presidents for decades by now. If you thought he was some kind of maga republican, you clearly were never a fan, and weren’t even paying attention to what he’s said or wrote songs about. Born in the USA is absolutely not a patriotic anthem, it’s the polar opposite of that.

    7. Crazy4Swayze420 on

These are probably the same people who think Born in the USA is a patriotic song. I had to point out that isn’t one year for a forth of July parade. Explaining that song isn’t very appropriate for the holiday was more difficult than expected. The looks of bewilderment while I explained the song was troubling. Someone even tried to say i was wrong which made them look real dumb when another Bruce fan piped up and said I was 100% correct that born in the USA is an anti USA song.

    8. Wait til ‚they‘ learn that Born in the USA wasn’t a song for patriots

    9. Luke_Cocksucker on

These are the same people who thought rage against the machine and twisted sister was pro-conservative.

    10. TruthsNoRemedy on

lol, divide??? Are we talking fractions now as America could not be more divided. This is a country played by Russia into eating itself.

“I like his music but his lyrics and actions make me feel like I might have to consider my own thoughts and actions. And that has never happened before!”

    12. Does this mean Bruce Springsteen will cut down the length of his live shows from 3 hours to 1.5 hours?

    13. ReadingAndThinking on

      It doesn’t divides fans.

It just shows who weren’t listening to the songs.

    14. BombadilGuy on

Reminds me of the marines I saw at a RATM show in the 00’s, shocked at the upside down flag on stage.

    15. HambugerBurglarizer on

No it doesn’t. Springsteen has never made music for conservative assholes.

    16. I don’t get how you could have possibly been a fan of his before the comments and be offended by the comments

    17. It’s only divided between the fans who listen to his lyrics and those who don’t and somehow deluded themselves into thinking he’s conservative.

    18. funksoldier83 on

Anyone who loves Bruce’s music but still supports Trump has some insane cognitive dissonance going on.

    19. whichwitch9 on

People who listened to Springsteen’s lyrics: not very divided at all. Dude has been very consistent with his messaging for a very long time

    20. Apprehensive-Fun4181 on

Conservatives are no longer American, so don’t count them as fans either.

    21. WardenEdgewise on

The problem is that the division is between kind, reasonable, normal human beings, and evil, angry, ignorant assholes. Those are the “both sides” people talk about. So, yes. They are polarized.

    22. It’s simple. If you back The Boss you are a Patriot. If you back ANY Trump (or cohort) you are a Traitor to these United States.

    23. Daffodil236 on

Good riddance. Who wants MAGA at a Springsteen concert? The lack of self-awareness they have is astounding.

    24. Yeah it’s Sprinsteen that’s the one polarizing things and not the clown in the white house.

    25. Middle-Potential5765 on

Anyone who says a version of, „I love the songs, but not the commentary“ never *understood* the songs to begin with and such a statement just demonstrates their own regrettable lack of human substance.

      Pitiable and vexing are they.

    26. Ok-Cricket2034 on

The Boss must’ve gone woke recently, just like Rage Against the Machine

    27. This has been posted a lot recently. It’s not true in the least, but clickbait is commence on Reddit.

    28. DatBeardedguy82 on

It does? Pretty sure hes always been pretty damn left leaning he even told reagan not to use born in the USA for his campaign his comments wouldn’t be surprising to anyone who knows anything about Springsteen

    29. It’s not “polarization” when one side is promoting fascism, disinformation, and cruelty. That’s not a political difference—it’s a moral crisis. We need to stop using neutral words to describe dangerous behavior. Call it what it is.

    30. If you are a fan of Trump, you’re not a fan of the Boss. No one who takes an honest listen to a single Springsteen song should see anything kindred in Orange Dumb.

    31. Ok-Gazelle-6225 on

How is this polarizing? You support a sexual assaulter/felon, or you don’t. I guess that’s a tough choice for people?

    32. panchoamadeus on

This like the Star Trek “fans” complaining about the show diversity and wokeness
