You know, if you had told me in February 2022 that Ukraine would fairly regularly be launching airstrikes into Russia proper with manned aircraft (and yes, I realize the aircraft themselves are likely not crossing into Russia, but still) armed with French bombs 3.5 years into the war, I don’t think I would have believed you.

The increase in the frequency, accuracy, and complexity of Ukrainian air operations is extremely interesting to me. [This air assault](https://euromaidanpress.com/2025/06/03/frontline-report-ghost-helicopters-drop-ukrainian-hunters-deep-behind-russian-lines-under-cover-of-darkness/) behind Russian lines, while probably only possible due to unique circumstances at this area of the front, is quite interesting this far into the war. The only other similar uses of helicopters I’m aware are all from early in 2022 (initial Russian invasion, Ukrainian raid on Belgorod, Ukrainian re-supply runs to Mariupol, Ukrainian raid on Snake Island).

This article is short on details, and obviously from Ukrainian media, but it does suggest there is real improvement in Ukrainian tactics: [https://euromaidanpress.com/2025/06/03/how-ukraines-air-force-learned-to-hunt-in-packs-like-wolves/](https://euromaidanpress.com/2025/06/03/how-ukraines-air-force-learned-to-hunt-in-packs-like-wolves/)
