I kind of think this is a good compromise.

Edit: The article got edited to CUMULATIVE, in which case I disagree with the change. Someone living here for a few years, then moving abroad for decades, shouldn’t be able to just pass on being Canadian.

genuinely nobody understands the nuances of the various immigration streams. if you try to explain to an old stock canadian the difference between TFWs and students with work permits, let alone all the various express entry streams, family sponsorship, etc., their eyes will glaze over and all thoughts terminate with „why are all these Indians here“

The thing I hate about this is the drama everytime there is a hurricane in south east Asia or earthquake in South America ans the news is full of stories about how Canada isnt doing enough to get their citizens out and then it turns out all those citizens haven’t loved here in 12 years or in this case could be ever
