    1. As it stands, it isn’t going to pass.

      2 Republican Senators have been on CNBC this week saying they are voting against the overall „Big Beautiful Bill“, and there are at least 6 more.

      And in the final version, as part of the reconciliation process, it’s going to be stripped out anyways, as in their system, its the job of the US Senate to rip out any parts of a House bill that are incompatible with existing laws. The proposed tax is one of them as it clearly violates the existing Treaty. To override it requires 60 Senate votes – which the Republicans wouldn’t have even if every single Republican Senator voted for it (and several have already said they won’t).
