      Putin will shoot a few rockets and western media will cry about it and 5min later its all forgotten.

      A 84th peace talk will be suggested and both sides will be unhappy.

      It’s boring to follow this war.

      Trump says Putin says he’ll have to respond, ok, did they discuss how? Did Trump push back at all? Did he give a tacit approval for some unknown Russian response?

      There’s not a lot released from this call, which leads me to believe the white House just doesn’t know what’s happening.

      One thing I did notice was Trump believing Iran is „slow walking“ discussions. And Russia suggested that they could join the discussions, which I’m sure would speed things along (lol) Trump is on a timeline and is pressed for time, neither Russia or Iran are. They don’t have elections like the United States, they don’t need to show progress. Trump touted himself as someone who could cut through the noise and force favorable deals for the United States, but it seems he cannot do that and that’s a weakness he’s presenting to those who he negotiates with. They can wait him out and deal with the next administration.

      Generally a strength the United States holds over others is that it doesn’t need anything from anyone and can wait out other countries poor behaviors and just impose penalties for acting against it and benefits for acting with it. Trump has boxed himself in such that this isn’t true for him, he needs these victories and his adversaries know it and are using that to extract concessions from the United States. Trump’s failure to bring successful conclusions and his desperation in negotiation is a weakness that he self imposes on the United States. Offering Russia nearly everything they want for a ceasefire? Offering to essentially rejoin the jcpoa with Iran? These should be last efforts for the United States but in opening with them Trump showed a weakness that can be exploited
