Is there ever going to be a government that doesn’t just resort to authoritarian powers. Spying into bank accounts, crushing vehicles without the ability to appeal, bigger state, more laws and powers

This is quite annoying as the government are being slow to release legislation on this.
I met a young man with one on the train, said he needed something to get to his apprenticeship, as wasn’t paid much.
I hope they get decent legislation out to help the kid who wants to get to work, and punish the antisocial users accordingly. The problem is they both may be tarred with the same brush.

No, I’m all for this. The point is that they’ve been used antisocially in the first place, if they’re destroyed before they can be reclaimed then they can’t be hidden away and re-used. We’re not talking about normal, legal use here, it’s clear from the proposal. This gets antisocial vehicles off the streets and impacts the criminals. Good fucking move.

So currently people are able to get their vehicles back from the police? People the police would not like to give the vehicles to? Things that improve situations regarding antisocial and criminal activity:

* Greater police presence to deter crime through visibly higher risk of being caught
* Meaningful prosecution of repeat offenders
* Provision of non-destructive spaces for honest activities that become disruptive when uncontrolled

Things that do NOT improve the situation:

* Destruction of property without due process

„Without due process“ is the only reasonable conclusion to a shortening of the time period before destruction when the argument in favour is that people are currently getting their vehicles back.

Nothing about „antisocial use of a vehicle“, „criminal damage to roads“, or „often used to facilitate drug dealing“ explains a need to expedite the system *sevenfold*. Held vehicles aren’t being used for those activities already.

In all honesty with all problems aside if they crush my horn-happy pavement parking neighbour’s car into a cube and left it on his front path I’d be momentarilly happy.

I’m all for getting dickheads off the roads but happens when someone turns out to be innocent and their vehicle/e scooter is destroyed? Will they be compensated. I doubt so.

This is just very silly.
Many cases will be found to be unlawful and the car will already have been crushed.
Either they will need to pay compensation or innocent people will lose their vehicles for nothing.
