I kinda agree with this take strongly. The West won’t go Liberal but it could go NDP. You just need the right people and the right message, and maybe even the right time. Still a long shot but not a worthless one.

Not possible as the federal NDP is separate and vastly different to the provincal NDP’s . Really it’s the opposite that needs to happen , the wests provincal NDPs need to take over the federal NDP style .
Besides BC the provincal NDP only win in their provinces when they stiff armed Singh and separated themselves from the federal brand . Nenshi is trying to cut the cord further right now as we spea.k
But today , even Eby is moving more like the Prairie NDP’s .
Unless the federal party models themselves after the successful provincal NDP’s they will always remain at best the Liberals wing man when needed .

The NDP’s insistence on alienating the provinces where they’ve governed for significant periods of time and have provincial parties currently governing or as strong official opposition is mind boggling. The party was literally born on the Prairies.
It’s a start. But it also needs to push for PP to go. He remains and many of us potential NDP voters are likely to vote liberal again.

There are 108 seats west of Ontario, the Birthplace of the NDP.
If the NDP had any effective leader, they would focus on how to win big in the west. Just imagine if the NDP can take just 50% of western seats, that is 54 seats. they would crash the conservatives and deny the liberals any sniff of majority.
If the NDP can win governments in provinces out there, I think they can do significantly better federally. This would be a good change for western representation outside of the Conservative Party.

Wait this is the first I’m hearing of an NDP push for votes in Québec? The article doesn’t actually provide any evidence of NDP efforts to win the Québec vote post-2011. Layton actually had a plan to attract Québec votes. Mulcair neglected the Québec vote, and Singh abandoned it completely in 2019 and never tried to win them back. This is a pretty ridiculous and false assumption. I mean seriously, their 2011 Québec base was disaffected former rural Bloc voters who would never vote for anyone outwardly religious (yes this includes outwardly Christian or Catholic). Picking Singh is enough evidence to say the NDP chose to abandon Québec. I mean they never even tried to use their resources to revive the provincial party.
