Margot Robbie *wanted* to lead a new Pirates movie and they let it fall apart but sure this is what people want, especially after the last two movies were atrocious.
Never gonna happen with Depp. It wasn’t that long ago that Depp tanked the Fantastic Beasts franchise. And it’s not just that he isn’t likable enough to carry a franchise these days. Can he even stay sober long enough to film? Is he even insurable?

This is literally the definition of a soulless, corporate film with no passion or integrity behind the script.
Can’t commit to a singular, strong vision for the franchise so they got teams of people to churn out two scripts to cover their blind spots, but with no vision or confidence to back them up.
The last good Pirates movie he was in was twenty years ago. Regardless of anybody’s opinion on Depp, they’ve milked this cow dry.
I don’t know if he has the ability to play this role or lead a movie anymore.
I’ve missed this franchise quite a lot. Excited to see it return.

lol I’m pretty sure before Disney sacked him the conversation was more like “we are getting sick of Depp half-assing through these terribly written, cash cow, soulless movies”.
I mean, maybe you’ll see an initial influx of enthusiasm from those who made it their life’s passion to ride or die for Depp (for whatever reason) but I can’t see a wider public interest or want in either a Depp led POTC or a reboot.
Especially given they’re probably going to throw hundreds of millions of dollars at this. It has flop written all over it…
