If they are willing to go after Harvard like this, how do you think they will treat the rest of us when we refuse to go along with the Christian Nationalist takeover of this country?

Imagine if they go after Universities that don’t have the best lawyers in the world.

Someone in another thread joked that this is happening because Barron got denied admission. I love that as an urban legend, but really am wondering what REALLY is behind this.

Lol, Trump won’t have any leverage left after this. The opposite a strategic thinker.

Trump likes the way this plays to the MAGA base. He will keep going at Harvard with the goal of closing the university, but he will also begin to target the next university. The “first they came for…” poem is quite literally the test for higher education in America right now.

This is the same party that would cry over the government interfering, and now they’re strong-arming every possible institution. GOP is the party of government overreach.

I’m just confused why protest aren’t amping up. If this would have happened 30 years ago there would be a huge walk out and protest. Trump is afraid of criticism, why are we not planning/participating in huge ones?

It’s not about stopping just him but anyone else who will become president and try the same things.

Trump is crazy like Hitler, North Korea’s Supreme Ruler Kim Jong-Un, Vlad the Impaler, Caligula, Christopher Columbus, Stalin and Pol Pot. Well, I may be over-exaggerating, but I made my point. He’s sick, sick, mother-fucking **SICK!!**

Harvard was in existence  long before the US was officially a country.  If Trump thinks he can destroy a sacred institution, he has another thing coming. He is not all-powerful.

Why is tRump saying it’s because of antisemitism when tRump accepted the luxury plane from the same people who actually fund the free Palestine protests? Seems like taking a bribe from those who financially support antisemitism is worse than his excuse for going after Harvard.

    11. Remember when conservatives cried about silencing conservative voices on campus? I do. They are really fucking quiet now.

If the admin is hell bent on cost cutting maybe they do not need our taxes anymore and the people refrain from paying them

Good thing Harvard isn’t a government agency isn’t it? I’m sure that will be Trump‘s next step. Nationalize the universities. But don’t worry it’s only communist if it helps the workers.

I’m pretty sure HVAC tech schools aren’t working on genetic cancer research

Every single Republican politician that went to Harvard and received the benefit of that diploma should have that diploma. Rescinded. Love how they’re silent while the institution that they went to and benefit from is shredded. Fuckers.

They are able to push this against Harvard because so many other universities were weak and caved instantly. Columbia and Yale set a precedent of bending the knee which emboldened the „Administration“ to stick it to Harvard.

I hope Harvard is able to withstand this (they have a large enough endowment) on principle.

    17. Doesn’t Congress have the power of the purse? What the fuck kind of blatant illegal bullshit is this?

Cancelling congressionally appropriated funds? Seems like there are no branches of government anymore.

So when Democrats take control back should they make religious universities ineligible for grants and federal student loans?

      Fair is fair, right?

    20. ArchdruidHalsin on

Wait. You’re telling me that the guy who was impeached for withholding funds from Ukraine is now doing the same thing to our domestic institutions? I need Susan Collins to help me make sense of this. I was under the impression he learned his lesson.

It’s high past time to start taxing churches. Governor’s should just do it and ignore the courts when they tell them they can’t. Fuck this shit, two can play at this game.

    22. Turnaround is fair game… So in 3.5 years, we can look forward to every religious based university in the country losing its accreditation and its right to federal student loans. Also, tax them….

A boy can dream right? Nah, we know the Dems are too cowardice to do this…

    23. I suspect going after Harvard is the legal equivalent of „never start a fight with a man who buys printer ink by the barrel“.

    24. When this is all over, Harvard’s decision to stand up to the Nazis will burnish its legacy for centuries to come.

Harvard has been around longer than the United States and will be around longer after Trump is gone. It is making the right decision to stand steadfast to its values for what will ultimately be a momentary blip in its history.
