They are not coming back anytime soon under this ‚administration‘ and as economic conditions worsen along with border control deporting tourists and all the rest then what ever trickle of tourists left will dry up.
Citizens of nations subject to tariffs and threats of expansion tend to react very badly to bullying , intimidation and insults.
Tourists and business travellers such as conventions are choosing to spend elsewhere due to indignation and fear of being detained and deported for spurious reasons.
The only positive for Americans coming out of this is the lowering of hotel room prices.
Gotta wonder how long it’s gonna take to realize that you can’t siphon what isn’t there.
I think those numbers underestimate the true loss to come. It’s not accounting for the daily cross border spending from Canada in those small border towns. Many are already really suffering huge loses and closures. Then there’s all the trickle down from hotels, entertainment such as Disney parks, Snow birds, etc etc that can’t even begin to be measured. Basically think covid pandemic era and that’s getting close to what we’re going to see.

US is acting like a bridezilla who’s insulted the bridesmaids, the groom’s family and all the guests then wonders why no one wants to attend their destination wedding.
That $23 billion estimate is a joke. I’ve seen numbers that are much much larger than that. That doesn’t measure all the ripple effects from the canceled contracts currently and in the future that will never be replaced. Already in Canada, American products that used to predominate in the grocery stores, but now it’s Canadian made products with imports from every country except for the United States. The United States products have been moved over to discounted and blowout sections of the market. Elbows Up is the mantra to fight the US, and even after Trump is long gone, it will take decades to undo the damage. Europe, Asia, Central and South America are also developing anti-American sentiment and finding other relationships to replace the ones they had with the United States. You can’t put a number on the devastation that this is having now and for many, many years to come.
Fascist’s will feel the hurt, but unfortunately they won’t see themselves as the problem. They’ll blame the weakening economy on their „enemy“ of choice

Dear foreign tourists, stay away. I’m not wishing ill will on those who count on these jobs, but sooner or later it’s going to impact red states and maghats, and I will be there to remind them THEY OWN this. In this nightmare we are living here in America, it is my only solace.

I was in Chicago last summer to see Pearl Jam. I usually try to get down to the US once a year or so. Ever since Trump was elected I’ve changed my plans. I won’t be back to the US again. Not under Trump or any other president. America has made itself clear; if you’re not American you’re not welcome. I won’t travel to a country where the government and millions of its citizens despise anyone who isn’t a citizen. There are plenty of other places to travel to.
