Its probably going to be extremely difficult politically just to commit and maintain 2%. Wonder how many countries could actually meet 5%.

Canada not even going to meet the current 2% threshold agreed upon by NATO. Our military is severely weakened due to decades of being underfunded.

It is an idiotic pledge. From about 1.35 per cent of GDP or $38 billion per year to 5 per cent of GDP $144 billion.
At that cost I would rather leave NATO. Don’t get me wrong, I think we need to back our global vision with the big stick, but let’s be serious: if we don’t go around kicking up Hornets nests, we aren’t likely to be attacked.
